I want to be elected

OK, not really, I just couldn't think of a catchier headline for today's entry.
We're off and running toward the finish line, though, and I wanted to let everyone know I'll be here all night dropping you a line from time to time as I find a race that catches my eye.
I'll start the ball rolling with telling you that I was duly impressed when I went to vote at First Baptist on Burnside Avenue in West Norriton and nearly 150 people had already passed through. That's a big turnout for our little precinct. I hope it's a sign of a great turnout.
What's going on where you are?

I was #279 at Arrowhead school in Lower Providence. After becoming caught up in the soap opera of the Trappe Borough shenanigans that has been presented through this blog, any insight you could give us regarding results or projected results would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Stan !

Just wanted to add a quick note. We've put up a link on the home page of www.timesherald.com so you can get your results right here.

Voting... I was #202 at 3:00 PM today... out of 1,000 here in LP 3-2...not good. I'll keep watch here on your Blog for some interesting results in Montgomery County that may catch your interest. Tomorrow we will be shopping up in Limerick...now that is progress for that Township. Lived there when it was a village. This is a Township that has learned to say "NO" to outsiders wanting to set up businesses that are not in the best interest of the community.

If Limerick Township is a village, what is Skippack? Wake up,people Limerick is the fastest growing commercialized area. All Limerick has learned is how to yes to developers or I will sue you. 33 lawsuits for a municipality is idiotic. Is this really the best interest of the Township?

Hey LP voter, looks like Rick Brown won running away. Way to go, Rick.
Castor is holding on to a pretty good lead for county commissioner. I'm surprised that it's as close as it is. We'll hold out for the final numbers but right now only six percentage points separate Castor at 28 percent of the vote from Damsker with 22 percent of the vote. Matthews is in at 26 percent and Hoeffel's holding his own at 24 percent.

Glad to see that Stu Strauss' smear campaign went over so well with the voters in Trappe. I don't even live in Trappe and have no vested interest whatsoever in who won the election, but it does make me happy to see that a campaign that was carried out the way that his was, didn't pay off for him. When are people gonna learn that bashing your opponents means absolutely nothing when you, yourself are bringing nothing to the table.

Stan,
In the cantankerous Borough of Trappe the voters once again said no to Stu Strauss. After losing in the primary Stu tried the write-in route for the general election and garnered 193 votes. His opponent received 500. He will now try one more time when he will attempt to be appointed to a seat to be given up by a non-resident council member.

Rick Brown deserved to win the election . His mound of knowledge has benefitted L.P. for many, many years. I'm sure that some sitting Supervisors were not pleased with Mr. Brown success. Mr. Brown is a peoples Supervisor, not a developers one.Thank you Mr. Brown.

How can we, the citizens of Trappe let Mr. Strauss know anymore blatantly, that we've had it with him and his back-door politics, his inability to do what we as taxpayers want him to do, but rather do what HE wants to do ? That's TWO elections that we've let him know that and yet i'm certain by what i've read that he is going to take over the seat that is vacated by Craig Marks......ooops, i mean Mark Carrig and continue to try and be a thorn in the side of not only the new council members, but the community as a whole. Please Mr. Strauss, we've spoken.......for once please listen !

Well Stan,
We got to see America's political process first hand in trappe on tuesday. A soundly defeated, council member in the primary elections tried again in the general election and was soundly defeated, again.
I believe that the next and last step for the douglas team is to play musical chairs with council persons at the next trappe meeting.
If you did not vote for the council president either time, you should show up November 13th @ 7pm and show douglas & strauss that we just don't want him back.

END OF STORY

Stan: LP has once again voted in Brown. Now, maybe the suggestion he made at a meeting - the Township should have its own Zip - not Norristown will come about. The Postal System gave Audubon Residents a choice of getting their mail at the Post Office using 19407 Zip or having home delivery using 19403. Almost everyone living here back 50 plus years has used Audubon as their address and Norristown Zip. I chose to live in the Village of Audubon and my location should be reflected in the Address. NO, NO - to Eagleville...WE ARE AUDUBON!

So now that the Republicans are still in what is going to happen with the giant Gulotta payoff? I am guessing nothing will change!! It pays to be personal friends with Marino.

I find it hysterical that Mr. Castor's first mission is to address slow voter tallies. I slept fine Tuesday night not knowing the election results. Of course sometimes I lose sleep over school and community violence, children hooked on drugs and alcohol, and women murdered by domestic violence. Nice to know that we elected a man for the people...

I agree with the above poster. The first thing Castor is going to worry about is election results. What a joke. King Castor cannot wait a few hours. Maybe the County CIO Jack Pond can make that happen. If he does it would be the first thing he has done correctly to actually earn his $145k salary!

I live in the College Woods section of Trappe on Election Day two of the newly elected Councilmen Mr. Watson and Mr. Schuetz promised that they will get our private streets dedicated to the Borough so we do not have to pay for snow removal.I voted for you so do not let me down.

Anonymous said...

It was a disappointment that the first thing Castor wants to do is get election results sooner. We were led to believe he had more important things to think about and improvements to make for our county. But he is a politician, so what can we expect?

And you were right about Ken Davis this morning, too. He's a toothless lion, can't keep his people in line. Week or so ago he wrote at great length to defend accepting last-minute converts from Democratic to Republican as GOP candidates. Davis should have insisted that local party chairmen and committee people bring forward true party candidates. That's what committee people are supposed to do, not just sit at home waiting to work at the polls two days a year.

Anonymous said...

It's going to be interesting to see who will sit in the Chairmans chair. Will it be Castor with his pretty smile in his $500 suits,or Matthews with the smug I know iyt all attitude? Mr. Hoeffel has to hammer them on the payoff to Gulotta, of course Marino will still be there to cover his butt. Nothing will change except we may get the election results faster...priorities??

Last night I attended the Trappe Borough Council meeting. TCE was discussed with Accellent Co. asking for a building permit for the installation of a second Carbon Air Scrubber to clean up our air. It was finally decided that the code inforcement officer issues the permits and not council, this was finally brought forward after having to sit through another one of Stu Strauss's 5 min. commercials of how wonderful he is. Our State representatives were already informed and concerned about the TCE issue long before this council president contacted them. Give it up Stu, it's time to leave your post with your head high and not embarris yourself further with all the crowing. Still don't know if Accellent will get their permit in time before winter sets in???

There were many parents in attendance who were concerned about school safety related to a "recent incident" at the grade school and how the state police responsded. Again, it was the same old "lip service" heard from council for the past two years. They sat there with "EGG ON THEIR FACES" as was apparent since this council decided in 2006 to bail-out of a regional police study with their neighboring boro's which could have answered many questions brought up. They were unable to give specific answers and danced around the issue. People are concerned and angry that this council has put families saftety on the back-burner without any options or a proactive approach to move forward.

Trappe residents cannot and should not sit back and wait until we have to deal with a "tragic event" to one of our kids before this council takes a hard look at this issue and a pro active stance.

Last night the former resident of Trappe tendered his resignation from council. The council is accepting resumes for someone to fill the seat.
It looks like the "Bring Back Stu" team realized they would look terribly stupid putting someone on Council that was defeated twice in elections.

I am sure that the person selected by the current council will be the best of the best...... of al's cronies

To blogger comments:
I attended Trappe Council Meeting. I believe Trappe Borough has done as much as they can legally do with TCE issue. Of the over 50 people in crowd I did not hear one Trappe resident or Collegeville residence who attended this meeting speak up and say Trappe has done anything wrong or dispute the efforts publicly what Accellent is doing. Why didn't you same anything you had your opportunity others residents spoke?DEP is happy with their progress and it is a step in the right direction.
We must continue to stress TCE number gets lower though. If the blogger is from Collegeville I can guarantee Trappe is doing more than Collegeville is doing with Superior Tube.
Regarding the incident at the School it is regretful but are these residents going to the School Board and question proper safety procedure and getting if necessary hired security in the schools like other districts have? Properly not. Looking at school incidents around country I bet a majority of them have their own Police Dept.Having your own Police Dept. does not stop crime. In Lansdale with their own Police Dept. they have had three bank robberies in the last couple months. One bank was within blocks of the Police Station.
It boils down to do want your own police dept. or not. Collegeville is going broke supporting their department on a $300000 assessed house residents are paying over $1000 per family to pay for this dept.Wake up Trappe residents Collegeville is trying to push this expense to you.Are you willing to pay $700 per family for this dept. Senior citizens are moving out of Trappe because they can not afford taxes now this tax could be the last straw.
I have been told Trappe has no local real estate tax I believe Collegeville has 3.5 mil.

I was at the Trappe meeting last night also! It was the best of the best in council meeting bloopers! Council President Stu couldn't even pronounce 3 letters clearly..."TCE". I thought it was me so I took a twirled piece of toilet paper to my ear to see if I had a ball of wax stuck in there hampering my hearing. No wax. Someone from the state of borough association PLEASE do us all a favor & send this guy a "President of Borough Councils for Dummies" book!

I wanted to yell out, "The campaign is over, Buddy! Plus, I am losing oxygen trying to climb up to you on the pedestal you put yourself up on!" Then to realize that your own Code Enforcement Officer hands out building permits was even more laughable! Seriously though. You gotta feel sorry for the guy. Well, maybe not.

Now, why haven't more folks commented on Mark Carrig's resignation that was handed in at 4:00 PM the day of the meeting? Yeah, right. An almost perfectly planned exit. Did he feel the heat you think? I thought he stayed firm with his "I DO NOT LIVE IN COLLEGEVILLE!" story. Guess he isn't in Trappe anymore, Toto.

Watch out for the "special meeting" Stu said they'd have to appoint someone to Carrig's vacancy, my friends. It better be a public meeting!! The only person who should be appointed is the #1 vote getter, Fred Schuetz! Give it up. We spoke on election day. Period.

To anonymous who keeps on trying to predict what is going to take place at Trappe Council Meetings over the last two months. I hope
you have a real job because if you are as good at gambling as you are in your predictions you would be in the poor house. If you are so great, why do'nt you run for Council that is if you actually live in Trappe and we will see if you could do better.Talk is cheap, action speaks for itself.

Isn't it funny that after Stu Strauss lost in his attempt at a write-in campaign, that the "ghostly" Craig Marks has ceased in his attempt to discredit any of the other candidates ? Now Stan, answer me this.... Do you believe that Mr. Craigs blog was just part of Stu Strauss' smear campaign effort? He disparaged your words many times over and even attempted to discredit you when all that you ever did was speak the facts. Thank you Stan for giving us this forum to voice our opinions.

Look to see accuracy of anonymous comments that stated that www.pvpa.blogspot.com has not made comments since Nov. 7. You are wrong again a very interesting comment was made on Nov.9,2007. Follow the dots and I believe these dots will come together so everyone can see soon.

To anonymous:
A smear campaign is telling the public inaccurate information. For my information what did Stu Strauss tell the public about his opposition that was not true?Did his opposition miss all those public meetings? Public records will say yes. Is his opposition a realtor and has worked or still works for a developer that has or had three proposed developments in Trappe and his opposition voted to approve them and he will gain financially. Public record will say yes. I believe your campaign was trying to smear the public by hiding the truth.

You answer my questions that i initially put on the table, and i will, in turn answer yours....simple enough ?

STAN,

I just left the Trappe Boro Hall after I was told by the Council President that he would be running the candidate selection review meeting and that he was also a candidate for the collegeville/trappe ex council person seat.
Yup, the polsters were right, if stu can't get back on council by the front door, 4 council persons will bring him in the back door.

He resigned tonight to be considered a candidate for the open position and he will be voted in on December 4th by a 4-1 vote.

Of course, he can't vote on the selection, he can just run the meeting to review the resumes and then have his buddies select the BEST person. right......

Anonymous said...

Well, looks like the guy that stood up and got yelled down by the town bully was right.
Stu Strauss for 2 more years. I know we have to wait until December 4 but it is a done deal.

Trappe residents got what they didn't vote for but just remember, it is Trappe and weird things happen here.

Stan,
I want to apologize for giving you false information regarding the empty seat in Trappe and stu strauss resigning to be a candidate for the seat.

stu didn't resign, he ran the candidate interviews, (1) and then was interviewed by the VP of council.

I think that he will probably have to resign to take carrig's seat but in Trappe anything is possible.

I guess stu will be around for 2 more years and the people of trappe will just have to listen to him pontificating about how great he is and how he did so much for the community.

I guess that's why he got so many votes in the elections.

I wonder if anyone checked the PA Boro Code to see if a candidate for a seat on council can run the meeting for that seat.

Looked at www.pvpa.blogspot.com 11/27/2007 it looks like Mr. Marks blog has not gone away. Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous was wrong again. It seems like Marino and Kane will own Trappe soon.Watch out folks.

Isn't it funny how the author of the other blog that spins every story to make the current regime of "Al's Pals'" look like victims and the only civic-minded people that live in Trappe and constantly complains about how Mr. Huskey only tells lies and half-truths, relies on Mr. Huskeys' blog to spread the word of his convoluted writings. Sorta reminds me of the Al Sharptons and Louis Farakhans of the world...Complain about the media and then use the same said media to spread their poison.
