Show me the money

Sorry, but I can't. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Norristown does not have an extra $11 million floating around. I got a copy of the audited 2005 budget to a trusted friend, who just so happens to be one of the sharpest financial minds around, and he told me there wasn't anything fishy going on.

Just so you know, the audited 2006 budget is not ready yet.

And, talk of the money actually being found in some FOP account is also bogus.

Now come on, folks, give me something I can really sink my teeth into.

There is so much wrong, corrupt, or poorly run at that County... surely you can find something to sink your teeth into. We need some truly investigative reporting Stan. Just start interviewing employees in any department and you will find tons of info.

I'm curious if the people using Elm Wood Park for all day functions on the weekends are paying some type of fee to Norristown, prior to their parties for compensation, due to the fact that on Monday's the employees of the borough have to clean up the trash that they have left behind, which is not always in the trash containers. To utilize the grounds all day, eliminating so many other people using the grounds is uncalled for. There should be a sign up sheet w/an alloted time frame in which they can use the park, clean up, and remove their cars so that possibly another family might be able to enjoy the grounds. Realizing the season is almost complete for the barbecues, I feel the public has a right to know how this is done. Also, the parking is getting ridiculous at some of these gatherings and that too needs to be addressed. Please Norristown, let us know how everyone can enjoy the park!

i think it is horrible how people walk their housepets and don't clean up after them when they deposit on other people's property. i thought at some time there was a fine for this action. their should be a phone # posted, where people could call and leave the addresses of the people who are doing this w/their pets. the owners don't think they are noticed when they walk them so early in the morning, but there is always someone around to see! for instance...High Street in Roberts Park has an owner of 2 small white dogs who walks them on Roberts Street and turns her head when the dogs mess on others properties. Then there is another large tan dog walked by it's owner from Linda and High Streets that does the same! It is not the animals fault! The owner needs to take responsibility! This should be throughout the borough! Give us a # to call and leave the addresses of the owners so that the fine can be issued.

The County has completed their Trail Project but the road from Pawlings Road to the 422 Shoe Stop and the Target Store, etc.,on the Goodrich Plant property, all of a sudden closed - stating Bridge construction or something on that order. Are you kidding me? The County sure as heck built that road in a very speedy manner and now - it's closed? What is the time frame??? Many locals like to use this road to their Gym, and skipping the traffic on Egypt in the Audubon/Oaks Area. We're waiting!

It is my understanding that the bridge from Pawlings to 422 is a privately owned one. I seem to remember this being mentioned at a Lower Providence Township Meeting. I hope I am not mistaken.

And while we are on Pawlings Road, has anyone been through the intersection of Pawlings and Egypt lately?

If you haven't, then take the trip. In fact, take it during rush hour. I guarantee you won't wait any more than a few minutes to get through the light. This intersection used to be a nightmare in ALL directions. The Audubon Inn, the CVS and the Commerce Bank all look great.

I think it is time that the Supervisors who voted for this all be thanked. Specifically Piero Sassu, John Lomire, Craig Dininny and especially Jim Dougherty, who lost the election standing up for what he knew was right.

Traffic at the intersection of Pawlings & Egypt is almost there...a left turn signal is needed. It now looks great, like almost any other intersection around. You will note the Audubon Village sign should now be changed...we are just another small town trying to be recognized. Audubon will soon be a town, not just one you are passing thru, but John James Audubon's home and his wife's home are there for all to see. ARC will only add to the interest in our area,

Show me the Money??????
Hey Big Irish the question is on an audit in Norristown ,not L.P. You know that the bridge is privately owned from your time spent within the organization. I do not believe that Mr. Lomire was on board when the ordinance was changed for all the wonderful things you suggest. There was a women on board, but I can't recall her name. Let's see what happens in 2009.

Hey Irish. Mr. Dininny voted against the change in the Village Commercial Ordinance the first time around. So he gets no credit, sorry.

Hey Big Irish, you must live on the moon, most of your blogging is for the birds. Have your tried to make a left turn out of Lark Lane, can't see a thing coming! Why aren't the improvments finished in front of the Irish Shop, why isn't Commerce Bank open? Why isn't CVS open, they both stated they would be open mid summer, what ever happended to that? Get offa that couch and take a look around!

Stan - Just a few notes on County/State/Township and Norristown happenings. There is no extra $ from a rich Daddy in Norristown - right? LP intersection (Egypt/Pawling/Park Ave.) not there yet - No Left Turn Signal. CVS - Open if you are interested. Commerce Bank - as I stated way back when they started to build, that they had REAL PROBLEMS - financial/management and under orders NOT to open any NEW BRANCHES until the Feds OK'd. Now that they are in a merger - we should see action maybe by years end. It due take time as we all know. Lark Lane, should be widened at the entrance on to Pawlings Road - the Firehouse is located in the first block. Demo.the Irish Shop? Oh was that previously in the plan? The Road to the Goodrich Plant property that had been closed is now open. Sure wonder why it was closed in the first place? Poor - Prior - Planning by the County? Thought you might be interested in the above.
