Election Night Mambo

This could be a good one. I've been saying (whenever anyone asks) that I think this is going to be the most exciting off-year election we've had in years. The commissioners' race is going to be a shoot out for the third seat, but is anyone a hundred percent sure who the third highest vote getter is going to be? There's always the possibility that Montgomery County goes Democratic for the first time in history.

Lower Providence has been buzzing since a local school official threw his hat in the ring for a supervisors seat. What say you Lower Providites?

Norristown seems to have a race with two newcomers, which is good for the county seat.

And of course, the icing on the cake will be which way the row offices fall. Five of the nine seats were picked up by Democrats four years ago, will that turn around this year or will we see the Dems grab even more seats?

My prediction, close but no cigar for the Dems this time around.

Tea-tards better wake up. Since the '10 congressional elections, the American people are getting a real good look at conservatives "true colors" and they don't like what they see.

Castor now says he wants to go over the finances from top to bottom. Where was he when he was supposed to be a commissioner prior to this election? Hanging his commissioner's plaque in his office restroom. Too bad he won, but I would have had to hold my nose if that tea party clone Jenny got in. So glad that people saw the light and ignored your buddies.

You ased for comments from Lower Providence...Here goes!

The School Principle got the job.

We will no longer get trash mail for at least three years.

Ms. Kearney can prepare her hate mail for her next run in three years. Should make her in her 5o's.

Her printer in Conshohocken will wonder when he will get payed.

Can't wait until the idiot who grabbed a committee women at the polls receives his summons.

It will be interesting to see who payed for all of the printing and signs when the reports come in.

Last by not least, the voters did their homework and voted for integrity and trust, and eliminated the hate mail.

Happy LP voter said...

I am delighted with the voters in Lower Providence, they saw through all the lies and halftruths that the Kearney folks put out, such hate mail has no place in local politics. Congratulations to a good man who put it all on the line for his community. Thank you Jason Sorgini for staying the course when the easy thing would have been to drop out of the race. We are all better people for seeing the truth! Good luck in you now position.

Voters, oops I mean sheep, in LP didn't do their homework, they drank the same Brown Kool-Aid they always do. Some Republican committeepeople supported their flipflopper candidate on the other ballot because at the end of the day they don't give a rip what voters think. It's only what they think that matters to them. I don't know who they think they are but my committeepeople will no longer have my vote come election time.

Anonymous said...

To the oops voter. Here's a better idea for you to sip on. If you are another hater of kool-aid Brown, instead of not voting for your committee persons, you run for the seat. I'm sure that with your BACKGROUND and political smarts YOU COULD BE A SHOE IN. Another day, another time.

To the OOPS comentator:
You too have a lot of hate and venom in your heart and unable to accept the voter's decesion. Apparantly you have the mindset of the other hateful candidate and frankly it would be best if you stick with soething you are failiar with...repairing computers instead of politics that you have no knowledge.

Mr. Huskey, In one of Ms. Kearney's pre election writings she stated, by voting for Ms. Zimmerman and Me it would be a first in Lower Providence history to have THREE females sitting at the head table. Would you believe, if K.C. Carolina would have started his campaign earlier he would have been the FIRST
Afro-American sitting there. She only beat K.C. by 445 votes.

Hey Stan, why don't you investigate the photo of Cain with his latest accuser? Here's a photo of the woman he denies knowing about. http://crooksandliars.com/tina-dupuy/theres-photo-herman-cain-being-inapprop

Then he has the nerve to attack her b/c she filed bankruptcy? How many have had to do that without the help he had from the Koch brothers, or as he says, his brothers from another mother.

Mr. Huskey. Viewing your blog column you show a blog called L.P.
out loud. The most current blog being "The View From The Edge". I have tried to put an answer to her babbling but, she refuses to publish my concerns. Since it's your paper she has a free ride on, may I please put my concerns here.
First, Mr. Sorgini will not need your help or assistance in any way. As one of your mailers suggested he has three degrees, none are from correspondence schools. She then states" Many fellow Republican voters were ashamed, disgusted and embarrassed.
I would have to agree with her on this issue. The voters were asking who could have put so much garbage out in such a short time? She won only two polls out of ten. Shannondell will never hear the end of Shannondell Blvd. She speaks of dedicated poll workers who had to spot and fight dirty tactics...could this be the same poll worker who accosted a committee women with an arm grab? Could this be a committee man who verbally confronted a candidate for School Board over football fields? These were not Mr. Sorgini's workers, they were yours. She also praises MCRC for having her back. Mr. Castor sent out a flyer stating that he don't often make personal recommendations but, he was compelled to endore Ms. Kearney. I believe they both lost in L.P.
The sign crew who put up the 500+ signs and mini billboards, there is still one at the Trooper entrance to 422. The so called inovative, creativity & work ethic...All you have to do was read your flyers, that said it all. Jill Zimmerman will be able to take care of herself, thank you. It's a shame that you included her in the trash that was mailed. The best way you can beat the shady things that was done is....Stay home, enjoy those great kids and leave the politics to someone who can handle them. Can't wait for the financial reports.

Stan, Now that Ms. Kearney has stated she will be on the lookout for all the shady deals in the Township will she take back the title she bestowed on old man Borai as Township watchdog? Her baloon has been broken but the EGO
goes on. Borai was always a bitch of a watchdog.

Castor, does crack me up. Went from top vote getter 4years ago to 3rd place this year. Democratic judges elected, look for more of the wealthy lawyers to start to switch parties, and give money to the Democrats. The lawyers want to be on the winning side. Republican leader Kerns, will have trouble getting is boys elected in the future. Kerns will become irrelevent, probably replaced. Get ready for Democratic registration to increase higher in this county. Prepare for more Republican loses, at all levels.

"Old man Borai" was one of the best things that ever happened to this township. Right or wromg you always knew where you stood with Mr. Borai. Isn't that right Janice?

Waaah waaah the crying in LP continues whether the old men (the real ding dongs) win or not. I knew the fix was in when I went to the polls and heard the utter character assasination committed against Mrs. Kearney whom I have known for many years. It makes me sick how people trying to hang onto whatever thread they have left had to trash the reputation of a truly good person. Guess she was too much of a threat to you. Only male chauvinist pigs tell women to stay home and point out their age. Either way boys she's got a lot more time on this side of the dirt nap than you do.

Theresa in Trooper said...

To OOPS and Waaah waaah,

Sour grapes never taste good no matter how much sugar you put on them. You JK people just can't stand it that the voters of Lower Providence saw through all the big, expensive, negative mailers that cost you the election. Having your own printer and financier is fine but you need more than that. You can't be that shallow and win.

What Sorgini had was not a lot of money but a ground swell of support who believed in him. A man of great character and reputation known throughout our community who doesn't go around tooting his own horn. His good deeds and good works in our community didn't go unnoticed by others.

I am sure that Janice isn't a bad person, just misdirected by her own advisors who couldn't see the forest for the trees. A tip for JK, shed some of that baggage and you might just win the next time. I think the ole saying is "you get what you pay for".

Bubba Kerns better wake up, he lost the County, Upper Merion, East and West Norriton, and who knows what else. How could he put out such a nonsensical letter to the GOP members. He is the one who should get the boot, not the rank and file. Leadership starts at the top and we don't have that any more. Time to bring back Bob Asher, he knows how to rally the troops! I guess Kerns can kiss his solicitorship goodbye in West Norriton and a few other places.

I know the Unions are/were backing many candidates here in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties. But, how much was donated to the "Take Over" that is now going on?? One TV showed a couple Union Men stating in Philadelphia - we have to help move these people now. That was when they were tossed out of the Park. My husband is a Union Member and was really put back when I explaned and showed him proof of the 99 that is used in all signs. Have all our people here in PA and the adjoining States gone off their rocker??

PLEASE---Explain the 99?? There is a union in Philadelphia called 99.
Are you refering to that????

The 99 refers to the percentage of people in this country who are not 'rich.' The remaining one percent are the wealthy.

When is Castor going to remove the sign at the Septa station? It's a joke now that he basically lost the election, barely winning over his tea party partner.

The E Mail received was from the AFL-CIL -Working America on 11/17. Most Democrats received this literature. The 99 is for Working People. The way this whole staging going on is relly not what was intended - or I believe they would have preferred it to be, to get their discontent with the government's handling of the Economy.

It was a open letter from the Working America -AFL-CIO - we received it also. Now, you can see your dues being used - in a way you may not care for, but you are a part of the 99.

I tear up some times when my stomach pains get really bad and I can't afford to see a doctor in the richest country in the world and I use to not have to be so concerned about issues like that because like most other then I had a secure job and I could afford health insurance though the company which was a company that valued it's people.... Romney took out a full page ad in the Union Leader, Concord Monitor, and Nashua Telegraph, calling it an “open letter to President Obama,” entitled, “Welcome to New Hampshire -- your policies have failed.” In it, he references the out-of-context attack that Obama thinks Americans are “lazy.”
*** Speaking of out of context: With grainy video, ominous music and President Obama with an echo, Romney’s ad uses this seemingly damning line from Obama: “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.” But, as the New York Times points out: “[T]he line, which is perhaps the spot’s most devastating moment, is also the one that seems to be the most taken out of context. In fact, at the time, Mr. Obama was referring to something that an aide to his then opponent, Senator John McCain of Arizona, had said in reference to the McCain campaign — not Mr. Obama, then or now.”

Typical of the job-killing broken record GOPhers...

Hypocrites states sue the government about the President's Healthcare, yet take the funds. If they don't like it, don't take it. Typical repugs.

Courtesy of The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Federal officials are awarding more money to help states carry out President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. The surprise? The list includes seven states suing to overturn the landmark law.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Tuesday that 13 states will split grants totaling nearly $220 million to set up health insurance exchanges. Millions of uninsured Americans will be able to buy private coverage through these online supermarkets starting in 2014.

Despite opponents' rhetoric, some states led by conservatives are hedging their health overhaul bets.

The seven getting money and also suing are: Alabama, Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and Nebraska. Three other plaintiffs , Indiana, Mississippi and Nevada , previously got funding.

The Republicans say they agree we need to help people, but they don't want to help people. Because of that stupid pledge, they have to try to help people with back door legislation so as not to upset Grover Norquist. I am so sick of the GOP acting like 5th graders. We all know how the problem can be resolved but because of an idiotic pledge, it's never going to happen unless you clean house of as many republicans as possible in 2012 so we can quit playing games and start putting people to work.

Twelve years after leaving Congress under a cloud, Newt Gingrich leads other possible GOP presidential candidates in many polls. The former House speaker has been in public life a long time, so most Americans know something about his politics; but, in a lengthy profile published in Esquire, writer John H. Richardson asks, "Just who is Newton Leroy Gingrich, really?" To uncover the answer, Richardson got Marianne Gingrich, the second of Gingrich's three wives, to sit down for a rare interview. Here are her 5 most shocking claims:

He began dating his math teacher at age 16:
It's widely known that Gingrich's first wife, Jackie, was once his high school geometry teacher. "To this day, the official story is that he started dating Jackie when he was 18 and she was 25," says Richardson. But, according to Marianne, "he was really just 16."

He cheated on his wife, then compared her to a car:
A few months after she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Marianne Gingrich confronted Newt, and he admitted he was having an affair (with Callista Bisek, then 32, a former Hill staffer who later became his third wife). The couple tried to talk through it, but Gingrich got stuck comparing his wife and lover to cars, saying Marianne was a Jaguar and all he wanted was a Chevrolet. "I can't handle a Jaguar right now," Gingrich said several times. "All I want is a Chevrolet."

"Family values" don't apply to him:
When Marianne confronted Newt about his cheating, he had just returned from a speech where he spoke of the importance of family values. Yet he asked her to simply tolerate the affair. She refused, and asked him how he could give high-minded speeches while simultaneously running around on his wife. "It doesn't matter what I do," he answered. "People need to hear what I have to say."

He borrowed jokes from his ex-wife:
Explaining how his current wife, Callista, is simultaneously younger but more mature than he is, Gingrich tells Richardson, "Callista and I kid that I'm 4 and she's 5, and therefore she gets to be in charge." When Marianne hears the anecdote, she's stunned. "You know where that line came from? Me. That's my line. That's what I told him," she says. She pauses, then says, "I'm sorry, that's so freaky."

"He's a sociopath, but he's our sociopath":
In 1997, after being fined $300,000 by the House Ethics Committee, "Gingrich started to deteriorate," Richardson writes. "He started yelling at people, which he'd never done before, and he'd get weirdly 'overfocused' on getting things done — manic, as if he was running out of time. He started taking meetings while eating, slurping his food, as if he weren't aware or didn't care how strange it looked. The staff responded with gallows humor: 'He's a sociopath, but he's our sociopath.'"

Last week, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) announced a plan to rig the 2012 presidential election by effectively giving up to a dozen electoral votes away to the Republican presidential candidate for free. Under Corbett’s plan, each of the state’s 18 congressional districts — which are being gerrymandered so that as many as 12 of them favor Republicans — would choose how to allocate a single electoral vote rather than having all of the state’s votes go to the winner of the state. The plan is opposed by several GOP congressmen, who fear that its new set of rules will cause the Obama campaign to shift resources from bluer parts of the state into their districts.

Nevertheless, Corbett and his chief ally in the legislature, GOP Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, are not swayed by these congressmen’s claim that it is more important to protect their seats than it is to steal the election.

BALTIMORE - A Baltimore jury Tuesday convicted a political aide to former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich of conspiring to suppress black voter turnout during the 2010 gubernatorial election.

Paul Schurick was found guilty of all four counts he faced, including conspiracy to violate state election laws and attempting to influence a voter's decision whether to go to the polls through the use of fraud.

Schurick had testified that he rejected campaign consultant Julius Henson's black voter suppression strategy but later approved an automated telephone call sent on Election Day to about 110,000 Democratic voters in heavily black jurisdictions. The call told them to relax because Gov. Martin O'Malley had already won.

Schurick said it was meant to mobilize crossover Democrats, not keep people from going to the polls.

Prosecutors argued the calls to voters in Baltimore city and Prince George's County, two jurisdictions with high percentages of black voters, were an effort by the Republican campaign to reduce the number of black Democrats voting in heavily Democratic Maryland.

"Hello. I'm calling to let everybody know that Governor O'Malley and President Obama have been successful," the call said. "Our goals have been met. The polls were correct, and we took it back. We're OK. Relax. Everything's fine. The only thing left is to watch it on TV tonight. Congratulations, and thank you."

O'Malley handily won last year's rematch against the Republican Ehrlich, whom he had unseated in 2006.

In his closing argument, State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt branded as "ridiculous" the explanation by Ehrlich's former campaign director that the calls were a counterintuitive attempt to spur Ehrlich supporters to head to the polls. Davitt reminded jurors of a July meeting where Henson — whose trial in the case is set to begin in February — proposed a plan dubbed "The Schurick Doctrine" to suppress the black vote, a plan Schurick testified that he rejected.

"We may never know what Schurick was thinking, but we know that he knew what Henson was thinking and he kept him around," he said.

Defense attorney A. Dwight Pettit told the jury in his closing argument that the robocalls may seem stupid now, but at the time, Schurick was depending on high-priced campaign consultant Julius Henson who was telling him that was how to get the votes the campaign needed to win.

"Maybe he shouldn't have listened to the consultant," he said.

Henson, whose trial on similar charges is set to begin in February, has said he did not believe the calls were illegal and weren't meant to suppress the vote.

ROFL. Santorum is a legend in his own mind.

Santorum is running for the Republican nomination for President and he’s busy in Iowa pitching his “values” agenda. He would, as president, reinstate Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, teach abstinence-only sex education in schools, end taxpayer money for contraception, veto all funding to Planned Parenthood, and pass two constitutional amendments – one to ban gay marriage and the other to ban abortion. He also said he would get rid of the judges on the United States Court of Appeal in San Francisco, the 9th Circuit that conservatives hate so much and then appoint conservative judges to those seats. He said he would accomplish this by having Congress abolish the Court and then re-instate it. Santorum would also provide Federal funding for groups that promote marriage and counseling against abortions.

In his newest stump speech, Santorum said that his social engineering programs would create jobs. “We have to have strong families and strong culture to have a free and prosperous and strong America. If you want to get this economy going…having just a little bit of support for marriage and families and fatherhood would be a huge step toward that.” When asked about the constitutional amendments, Santorum said that though he normally opposes tinkering with the Constitution, “Sometimes that’s all you have left when the courts have run roughshod. We need to let them know exactly what our country wants.”

Defending the completely unconstitutional act of dissolving a Federal Court for the purpose of changing its political makeup, Santorum, an attorney, said that “This will be a very important signal to be sent to the judiciary.” Yup – vote conservative or I will fire you. Nice message for what is supposed to be an independent judiciary.
