The truth of the matter is we don't know what possessed Jim Matthews to sidle up to Joe Hoeffel. Jim knows exactly why he did it and maybe some day he'll let the rest of us in on it. We know he wanted to appoint his own solicitor. He got his wish. But other than that, is being chairman really that much more prestigious than vice chair, which is what he would have been had he stayed true to Bruce Castor? And, if he would have allowed Bruce to pick his own solicitor he would have been chairman.
I asked you guys to send me a note or two on what's going on with appointments in your townships. I basically heard from Whitemarsh and Lower Providence.
Some people, read Republicans, in Whitemarsh is a little upset that Sean Kilkenney was appointed solicitor out there. Personally, I don't know Kilkenney, but I have seen his name pop up as solicitor in a few other municipalities and I'm wondering how many he can take on before he's spreading himself too thin. You'd think he'd have his hands full with Norristown alone.
Speaking of solicitors, Lower Providence is on the verge of changing theirs as well. Folks out there are upset with a new appointment to the zoning hearing board, and now they're getting a new solicitor.
The year's starting off with quite a bang. Stay tuned folks.

Mr. "H", Word travels fast in this little town of L.P. The non-political solicitor to the zoning board has been replaced by an ambulance chaser. He lives next to former "resigned" supervisor John Lomire. He is a Republican committeeman in district 1.Removing Mrs. Mcfarland from her position on the zoning board, opened up the oportunity for this man to crow about how he had the nomination, even before the appointment of Dininny puppet. now is the time for the attorney generals office to get involved, or the feds. After all they are the ones who cleaned up Norristown.
Stan, Where in the devil did all those salaries come from? $90,000 for a part time job? Honeyman returns after a bout with Marino and gets $70,634? Albert at $90,033 a year plue bennies? And Miller at $130,208 for what? I was told he could not find the men's room if he tried. Mr. Carolina at $43,241 I guess he's not a lawyer, is thia a part time or full time position. Mr. Armstrong a strong defender of the Republican party felt the rath of Mr. Matthews in losing his job. What happened to the intelligent people interested in these jobs? Oh, forgive me, if your not a lawyer you don't count. When are some of the $ going to flow to the real working souls?
What about the fact that Donnelly's buddy Bill Whiteside who worked under Donnelly now has had a position created and is working in their information technology department. Must be nice to have friends in the REP Party!!!
Mr. Huskey, Today's Times Herald has the story of Mr.Armstrong reply to Mr. Matthews. It looks like Mr. Matthews is sitting in the Chairmans seat with a two strike and NO balls count.
Stan, who is upset about LPT. Please name these thousands of people. I want to know. You make it sound like the entire twsp is upset at LPT BOS. Please stop making things up. You better read the latest PSATS magazine and see where LPT stands compared to other municipalities for communication and openess to the public. Then I would ask yourself where is Limerick, where is Upper Providence, where is Lower Salford and so on. Keep to the facts. You are only make your newspaper look more like a tabloid than anything else. Keep up the great work BOS and Mr. Dunbar. Facts speak louder than words especially from from this blog. By the way Stan, why is Carl not writing about this? This only proves that you rather try to dig up some BS than report factual information. Please apologise to the residents of LPT
I wonder when the Republican Party will in MC will straighten themselves out. Bruce Castor received the majority of votes. Jim Matthews betrayed the Party. It is time for the Committee members to wake up before it is too late. Matthews is now a loser as far as the Party goes, people remember & will never vote for him no matter what office he should ever seek.
Sean Kilkenny's appointments have more to do with his firm's ability to elect those who can appoint than his legal abilities or personal friendships.
You don't have to stretch your imagination too far to guess the answers.
It is hard even for a dedicated party person to trust the integrity of elected officials who got their offices this way.
Stan, The writer of Jan.12 has you mixed up with Mr. or Mrs. ANONYMOUS. Please explain to anonymous that Limerick is on Ridge Pike, Upper Providence is on Black Rock road and Lower Salford is on Broad St.this answers the question where are they. If she or he has a challenge it should be directed to the blog writer's not the editor. These blogs are not printed in the paper(thank god) or the thousands you mentioned would be responding. Continue printing the blogs Stan, the truth hurts that's why he or she refers to it as BS. You need not 'apologise" to anyone -- and it's apologize. The Times-Herald as a Tabloid---WOW.
Anonymous states that Lower Providence is happy with its supervisors and Stan is off-base. Here are the facts: Supervisor Dininny loses his run for reelection to republican committee by a margin of 2-1, Supervisor Sassu loses run for committee seat by a margin of 6-1 (despite being featured in township newsletter on eve of election he only gets 39 votes). Supervisor Dougherty loses reelection bid to unendorsed newcomer. Supervisor Kearney loses bid for committee seat by 2-1 margin. Supervisor Hager loses bid for tax collector. Supervisor Lomire resigns. Yeah these folks are beloved by the residents. There are 3 groups who appreciate the Lomire Dininny gang. Themselves, their appointments, and township vendors who contribute to them. Which one are you?
Stan,
Things in Lower Providence aren't much better.
The Lower Providence Republican committtee supported Chris Depalo, a former Democrate for supervisor. Even worse, Depalo snuck in the back door as a Republican committee man. You hear nothing about this.
On the other hand all you hear is a barrage of insults towards Craig Dinninny, one of the true Republicans in LP. He's not afraid to make hard choices and is true to the Republican party.
It's time to get back to the core values of the Republican party instead of letting the Democrats infiltrate us
Dolphin's other EYE
Stan, Please ,Please,Please tell me what a true Republican is??? Hard choices for who???Not his constituent's. He's a builder's Republican.....Hey when you leave the back door open all sorts of things sneak in. Look at your zoning Board.
Hey Dolphin's other eye, you must need glasses. You say Dininny is a real Republican, didn't he run as a Democrat against John Lomire and lose? Or maybe I am getting old-timers syndrome.
I remember that when the Democrats who ran for council in Norristown were asked who were the major contributors to their campaigns all of the three said they had no idea who the financiers were.
"Quid pro quo" still means what it used to mean, "give and take". We already forgot that this is a town that just went through a federal maelstrum.
Anonymous - wow -- sounds like you are dissatisfied with the republican committee? Maybe you are a democrat or excuse my english - a Matthews in disguise. Sounds like you recently lost a commitee appointment or lost in the selection? By the way when do republican committees decide the outcome of an election or the silent majority? I am not one of those appointed people, vendors or elected officials - just someone who cares about good government. Its time you get off the republican committee bandwagon and start looking at the real picture -good govt needs dedicated individuals whom who are not afraid to do the right thing when called upon for the welfare of the entire township not individuals like you. You probably do not even what PSATS stands for and what communication means to the operation of a municipality. Do us all a favor and please continue to sit in the back of the room and daze at the ceiling some more , wishing some day to make a thoughtful statement.
I'd love to know why everyone is making such a big deal out of the the Matthews/Castor drama. Wait, its not everyone. I doubt the "common citizen" even cares. It sounds like the same "good old folk" lost some of their stranglehold on the courthouse and now they are crying the blues. Now they can't get their "people" a job, or a no bid contract. Everyone should be concerned about what is best for the county. And I can assure you things will be run just fine to the average Joe. The Republican party should realize that they are a dying breed here in Montgomery County. For many reasons, but I've heard it to be because everyone is sick of the "Good Old Boy" system. The republican party takes care of its own and no one else. Check out how many row offices found a job for the appointees in other republican offices. Stan, your profile claims to "find the truth and bring it to the people." What truth is that exactly?? Why don't you start with the county contracts, from the last 2 years. Lets see how those contracts are connected to the county. Or the Holy Savior club. Or maybe where all the Row officers and their powers to be have gone now that the new Row officers have taken office. Don't even get me started on what the AG's office should be doing with Montgomery County...
I think it's nice to see a little "shake-up" in the polictical make up of Montgomery County and the surrounding municipalities. Some of these people have been sitting in various positions for over 30 years...time to go and let some younger people have a crack at it. I think some of the older folks are having a tough time realizing that they are being put out to pasture and that they are not on the pulse of what is happening in local or national politics.
To anonymous that thinks older people don't know what going on in the world. You don't have a clue do you? The younger generation today have very little time for anything other that their little piece of the world. Running their kids from one activity to the next, never sitting down to dinner with the family or having time together as a family. Who do you think keeps all those fast food and pizza delivery guys going up and down the street, not the older generation, we still cook our own dinners and sit down at a table to eat. I find it a bit comforting to have people with knowledge and experience doing the job, rather than some inexperienced rookie waiting on me. Who would you have operate on you, an experience surgeon or a new intern, just learning the ropes? Nuff said about people with experience being around tooo long, you are lucky to have us!
To: Not too old yet,
If you don't take any of the younger people under your wing, you'll just end up with a bunch of old ideas and old people surrounding you. I have a family with young children which believe it or not...I cook for EVERY night and sit down to a dinner and have conversation. We unfortunately are the exception in today's world. All I'm saying is, you need to open your eyes to other people and broaden your horizons for the betterment of the future. If you think no young people are interested in their municipalities, it's because they haven't been educated as to what affects them. The older generations had and probably still have more time to get involved. They should use that time to encourage those, who in 10 years, will be running the show. Wouldn't it be better to say that you left your knowledge with someone who shares your vision than to leave it with no one at all? Maybe the younger generation could teach you something as well. Don't be afraid to lift your wing and give someone guidance..regardless of their political party.
As for being operated on, I have been, by some very young surgeons. They are up to date on the newest technology which I think is better than someone who hasn't done their homework to keep up to date and is just treading water until retirement.
