Take the Property Tax Challenge

OK, folks, step right up. It's time to take the Property Tax Challenge. Please answer the following questions. Do you think your property taxes are too high? Do you think students across the state are getting equal access to education? Do you think there is a better way to fund public education? Congratulations, you've taken the Property Tax Challenge. Now there is only one more step. Send an email to shuskey@timesherald.com (That's me) and join the Property Tax Challenge. I'll make sure your state legislator hears from you. Remember, there's power in numbers, so let's tell our elected officials exactly where we stand.

We have lived in this home for 62 years. Our children went to grade and high school here in LP/Worcester/Norristown Area. I believe we have paid our fair share of taxes to support the schools and some luxury items that have nothing to do with education. Property Owners, after their children leave the nest should be given a break - NO Property Taxes for the School District as they are distributed now.

Again, TH readers are given no ability to comment on online articles, as has happened several times in the past. JR papers in other areas are talking about a new commenting system set to appear next week. Same story here? If so, why not tell readers rather than just removing the comment sections without a word?

We are going to the new comment moderation. The one we have in place now is hit or miss at best. In fact, I wasn't aware it was down again until your post, so, thanks for the heads up.

Have you heard the term “penny wise and pound foolish”?
You need to hire a real estate lawyer to help you with this. They would be able to tell you what your alternatives are what each would do. For instance if three of you are on the note and one of you is involved in a major lawsuit this property may be taken totally away from all three of you.
The guy you use should be able to help you with taxes. In our state a homeowner occupant gets a lower property tax rate and may also get a better interest rate. There are a lot of things to learn in this deal.

Got my school tax notice over $3,000. Got my Long Term Care notice just short of $5,000. Monthly electric bill is $120.00 plus and our fuel bill is $250.00 per month. Interesting to think we are doing great according to our President. A do nothing about immigration, we will take care of all, according to our President. Unbelievable ! Living on a fixed income that was OK 10 years ago is "Are You Kidding Me" now. This President and all his men and women need to go and back we go to "Don't Spend, Unless You Have CASH IN-HAND" Government. This applies to Methacton and Norristown School Districts too.

I believe the Methacton School Officials are unable to read otherwise we certainly would not have taxes set at the rate we now have. A survey should be done on the type of housing we have in the two Townships. What type of income and how many school age children there are in each household. I know there are a few that are in their 50s' that are now running this school district. They need to be more educated on how to stay within a budget and forget the "Plastic" that they are presently using making the whole state/country very poor.
