The real scoop on Lower Providence

OK, it appears to me that residents in Lower Providence wanted twice a week trash pick up and the lowest responsible bidder was J.P. Mascaro and Sons. Seems like the right decision was made last night by the board. My question is - as probably was the case with the American Revolution Center - are there really just a few disgruntled LP residents who squeak the loudest, or does the majority truly believe the supervisors are selling the township down the river? Just to let you know, anyone who posted to another thread on this subject it was not approved, please post your response here. I want to keep the comments going under the appropriate posts. Thanks.

Stan,

If you want a true litmus test of disgruntled citizens, make everyone post their real names. I have a feeling that most of the time, we have the same 3 people posting under 20 different aliases.

If that be the case, why did you not post yours.

There was a survey on the Trash Companys. They asked if we were satisfied with the one we had, and if there were changes to be made what would we prefer. Most people in our development went with Mascaro when they first arrived on the scene, others stayed with Romano or Asher. The only problem most households have is now they have an empty nest and there is only one, if they are lucky two in the home. This you can understand leads to less trash, etc. Mascaro always considers this type of case. Now, the new property owners would like various changes and sound off - they do need a little oil now and again. As for approval of former and present supervisors - it shows and on a case by case decisions will be made. If action was taken before it (building and zoning improper) was presented in a public forum/meeting. It takes only one mistake when it comes to changing zoning and that is not considering a business or neighbors. That my friend was the cause of ARC, Shannondell, Shopping Centers and Traffic Congestion that was not considered in the first place.

We got one of those phone calls asking if we wanted trash pick up once or twice a week, and the results may well have been that 70% wanted pick up twice a week as reported. However, we were also asked if we wanted a choice of companies or just one company for the whole township. That was a bone of contention too. What happened to that question on the survey?

Most of the people in LP don't even think about the supervisors. They couldn't give you one name or describe what they do except raise taxes.

Nah Nah Nah Nah Hey Hey Hey....

Stan, you should have posted this prior to the decision last night. The TH reported that over 75 people packed the meeting. That's not just a few discrunteld people its people who care.

Six years of bad decisions is evident and most peoople wanted change in May and Nov not just a few. The majority of the voter's voiced how they feel about the outgoing board members. In fact, they proved once again last evening that going to the meetings is a waste of time when Resident Joe Ferraro requested that the board postpone the decision until the new board is seated on Jan. 4th.

“This is a lame-duck session of this board,” Ferraro said. “Allow the next group to make the decision.”

They did not even consider it. In fact, Altieri replied, “We decided to take care of it now. We decided this board will make this decision.” That is another prime example of what we no longer want in LPT.

It will make great quotes for campaign literature for her competetors if she chooses to run again.

The real scoop is... that voting out the two supervisors is just the beginning for repairing the mismanagement. The boards have to be swept clean along with eliminating solicitors, contractors, engineering consultants, various vendors and some key employees. With that being done, progress can be made an the township can be repaired.

Good Bye!

Mr Huskey:
I am totally digusted with the actions taken by three of the five members of our BOS regarding the trash vote Monday night. How can one Supervisor who gladly accepted funds for a failed reelection campaign from our current trash collector argue their cause in public and then have the audacity to make the motion to approve the new contract for this same organization. By right, this Supervisor should have reclused himself from voting. Isn't his action a major conflict of interest and also an ehthics violation that he may be required to answer after he is out of office. Curiously what part of malfeasance does he not understand? My guess is the State Ethics Commission will have a field day with this, and hopefully the wheels of justice are starting to turn.

Mr. Huskey, Thank you for finally adrfessing the real scoop on L.P.

I would like to address the issue of the Zoning Board Solicitor and his plea of forgivrness before the Board of Supevisors.

The Solictor apologized to the Board of Supervisors not to the Supervisor he slandered. He has not been a professional lawyer one that the Township has been used to represent them.

The Zoning Board should take his actions to task and not reappoint him in January. If not the Board of Supervisors should consider replacing them.

Following your news paper stories
I as a taxpayer will start to attend these interesting meetings.

Sounds like they beat the T.V.

P,S. I only need once a week pick up.

They have to wipe the slate clean. The new team would be crazy not to. There are plenty of lawyers out there who would love the job and don't have the history here.

Lower Providence is like any other Township, but they are louder at times. What I would like to see is our Supervisors join the Street Maintenance Department when checking out the drainage or checking to see if maintenance is needed. We have developments that are 40 - 50 years old and there is a definite need for a look see. We have one development butt up against another and the water, after a rain storm, builds up and in the winter we have ice that does not go away until spring. LP is not alone the adjoining Townships have the same problem with side streets, that do not come under State.

Had again in LP said...

Here we are once again, sold out by Dininny, Sassu, and Altieri for another outrageous 5 year trash contract. I would prefer that the residents get the right to choose our own hauler and pay a lot less. I read in today's paper that another county township is only paying $300.00 while we are getting stuck for $400. After watching the township meeting on TV I was amazed at how many folks would come out and gravel for the trash hauler just because of his donations that he sprinkles around the township, is it worth $100. more? I think not!

Louie M. said...

Actually you are wrong on this issue, a few vocal residents edged on by the Mascaro boys, bullied the majority of the board into twice a week pickup, which very few residents really want or need, especially the elderly on fixed income who generate very little trash.

On the other issue, the ARC, the election was a referendum on this issue alone. You would have to be totally out of the loop to not understand the electorate in LP. People in our neck of the woods don't want grandiose projects stuffed down their throats by three people, it is just that simple. Now let's give Eckman and Thomas a chance to set things right, we are expecting better government for LP in the coming year.

A five year contract is out of the question, too bad they didn't make this decision before the election, they would have lost 5 to 1. You see where it got the democrats when they jumped on the Mascaro band wagon, back on the sidelines for another two years.

Disgruntled Citizens! You bet when complaints about a home that has a lawn that looks like a parking lot with cars that have no license, but nothing can be done? Oh yes, the Deed Says!!! I'm sure this one property's son may be trying to repair cars for friends, but that type of work requires a permit and there is no such a permit issued. So, who do the residence on that part of the community go to if it isn't the Township Manager? One complaint should be sufficient and with the Police patroling that area on a regular basis, this matter could be cleared up, if the use of fines were incorporated into the matter.

75 people at a township meeting isn't alot if you're looking at the whole of the township. It's alot compared to a regular board meeting where the same 15 annoying people show up to gripe about every issue put forth. I would make note that all of these residents are over age 55. The newer, more wealty residents of LP don't care about how much they pay for trash, just as long as someone comes to pick it up 2x a week. LP suffers from a divide of the old LP and the new. The old care too much about keeping the old scraps of LP for as long as they can and the new care too little. There won't be a happy medium ever in this township. It's 2 worlds that have nothing in common with each other. You'll never see anyone who lives in Audubon Ridge, Providence oaks, Providence Ridge or any of the mcmansion developments at a township meeting. You'll also never see any of these people elected to the BOS. It's all same old, same old. I don't expect anything new and exciting to come to LP and I doubt a change in Supervisors, township manager or solicitor will make a hill of beans difference to the state of the township or to most folks living here.

Grannie who's been there said...

I wonder if HILL of BEANS submitted her letter to the Board of Supervisors requesting to serve in any capacity in the township?

The people in the McMansions you speak about are too involved in keeping their jobs to keep up paying for these homes.

Maybe, the people who submit their names for positions are the ones who are truly interested in keeping their township in an upright position.

So there's 15 people over 55 at the meetings, representing the younger crowd who may be home watching over their siblings, going over their homework, changing diapers etc.

You now have a young board of Supervisors, a some what young Zoning Board. What have they accomplished?

Go back into the early 60's and check the ages of those board members, I can remember them being in their 70 and 80s. They got us where we are today. Don't knock the age--intelligence,and common sense comes with it.

It's the NIMBYs who keep township meetings interesting. When they have a problem, they act, cry, and then go home and never return. You as an official know this and you continue to cry wolf. Remember the old saying,"what goes around, comes around". It's the player who stands too close to the plate that gets beaned. In hockey if you commit a foul your sent to the penalty box, look out for that foul, there are some sneeky players out there. Grannie may be correct when she says, yonger people have more on their plate than politics. Family first, answering letters second.

Happy holidays. To all blog contributors, whoever you are.

The Weather Forcast is SNOW - 6" to 12".
Now, do you believe we have a street, like one Blogger said, looks like a Parking Lot and their driveways have no cars on them. What ever happened to "Snow Routes?" When there is a problem with any roadway, we get a call from LP Twp. that we will need to use another route. So, how about getting the streets cleared when we have a storm and also make it less dangerous for we drivers that need to go to work. Requiring all cars be off the streets - it would only take that one phone call and a fine if it is not accomplished by a certain time of day. A sign could be posted right next to the speed sign stating the above, it is just as simple as that and money in the till if enough people think it did not mean them.

Thanks for the shout out. (I like how you used Steam to encapsulate your comment.) I wasn’t even looking here until a neighbor told me my name was used in vain here. Been busy writing blogs at http://joethenerd.blogspot.com/ and sometimes on the Huffington Post (when they feel like releasing the stuff…).

The Mascaro contract is Single Payer Trash Care. I NEVER want to hear a conservative who wanted this trash contract complain about Single Payer Healthcare again. The government has stepped in and is tell me that I HAVE to use their guys. What happened to free market competition? What happened to letting the market decide? Oh, I live in Lower Providence, I forgot.

I hope there is a way for the township to get out of this contract. I hope there are people looking into the trash of the last number of years (pun intended) – if for no other reason to make sure this long winter’s nightmare was on the up and up.

Personally, I think this is a tainted contract because of Mascaro’s involvement with the last election. The amount of money donated to the GOP A-Team was awe inspiring for a local election. Going to court to try to rerun the election thru the justice system after their guys blew said election is just wrong. When they couldn’t do that it appeared they convinced the Democratic Candidates to carry their water for them (remember the campaign lit…). The D’s got washed out just like Dininny in the spring. I am glad I was not involved with the LPDems on this go around.

Now we have the lame duck sessions. The voters spoke loudly at the polls. If you were listening, they were saying something along the lines of, “We don’t like this”. But the lame ducks quacked for the elephant trucks anyway.

What is even more appalling is it is a 5 year contract being set upon the new board. The majority of the board is leaving. That is a set of stones.

If you want some real election reform, why not this – After the certification of the election by the county election board the winners take office immediately. This is nonsense with 2 months of lame duck quackery.

You can say that I stand up at meetings and make a fuss, but I don’t hear anyone challenging me saying that the content of what I am saying is that far off base. We may disagree on position, but my arguments are solid and consistent.

If you are going to rip me on positions, it appears candidates that I have spoken up for lately seem to be winning their elections. I don’t think I possess anything magical, I am just using common sense and fair play.

Maybe people in LP are responding to something like that?

Stan,

If you think the majority of people in LP want Mascaro for their trash hauler you are mistaken. In the last five years they have had the contract, the trash cans are left thrown all over the streets, it is a hazard for all living here. Now just a few months ago before the new contract was under advisement, the cans were left just where they should be, now why can't that be done all the time, not just when the contract is up. I agree with Joe the nerd, campaign contributions from vendors should disqualify them from bidding. If it is true that Dininny took $3500.00 from Mascaro family and employees as campaign contributions, that is just wrong for him to vote for his buddy. He should be keeping company with the likes of Vince Fumo and other pigs at the trough. It is high time that the residents of LP get a say in how we get our trash picked up and by who.

Anonymous said...

I have lived in LP for over 50 years, so Supervisors come and go. That is how most Townships are and how they deal with Supervisors that are all to into themself.
As for the Trash Collection Companies. Most Towns and Townships have contrats for this service. So, Mascaro just happens to be a great LP resident and their family ties are apparent. The case of apple and oranges is correct - When bidding comes in, may the best man win with the way the contract is written. I have no problem with the collection and the kids that work for this company are great. You know it isn't the easiest job, but the money is good I'm told. Have a great Holiday Season and Thank the Kids that pick up you trash and keep our Township smelling great if we did not have a collection .

Have no idea how much was contributed to Supervisors's Campaigns. The Mascaro Family has been active in LP for 30 Years, or at least when my children were in HS. I wish them well when it comes to making a business flourish. We have quite a few young people making a name for themself - so be glad, it is not the other way around where they are in prison. If perhaps a company makes a donation or supports a certain candidate, so be it - i.e. Rendell & Sustek supported Miss Hillary. Now, where is the problem? You use your vote to help our Township, County, state and country make the right decisions and that is how it should be. Get off the back-stabbing and look at the good that has been accomplished over the many years this company and family has lived in LP.

so how much of a contribution is acceptable?

do you what the company will get for the contribution?

do you think this is a wise way to run the government?

how should the media be involved in reporting these activities?

Some improvement with the connect to 422 By-pass also called the Ptsn. Expressway??
The biggest problem is the inability to exit Trooper Road and head WEST on 422. This is also the problem in the AM with the exit from 422 on to Trooper Road, there isn't any! I really am not too interested in Oaks and their problem because of the BFG Development. We need something done now so that we all can get into and out of the LP and WN area by way of Trooper Road and 422. The shopping area on Trooper Road and the Industrial Parks on both sides need this improvement that has been suggested for over 30 years - what type of person that is in charge of PennDot with just a minimual amout of gray matter can't see this problem. SQUEAK, SQUEAK!!

Stanley Turtle. Lt. Turtle was introduced to the people in house as the recipient of his 20 year service award. When Lt.Turtle arrived at the podium the Chairman had to make a derogatory remark about Mr. Turtles height. He then
went on to speak of the Lt. wifes height. I have know this police officer for many years, what he has accomplish is exceptional. I do not belive the chairman could carry this man's lunch, and believe he owes the Lt. an apology. His comment is destitute of tact. Check it out, Thurs. Sat. 1am,9am, 7pm verizon 42, comcast 28.

Then a guy dressed like batman comes out the side door and starts strutting around singing like Perry Como and Frank Sinatra, if the sound system was responsible for the horrible noise emanating from his microphone then it should be fixed as soon as possible. I feel sorry for the people that got stuck standing up for the hour + love fest, what a joke and I hope no taxpayers money was paid to Batman.

I'm looking forward to a very quiet new year here in LP. Most problems will be solved in court and all I need to do is read the Times Herald - Thanks!

Anonymous said...

I think many LP residents are upset over the degree to which special interests sunk their collective teeth into the township during the Dininny years, and now seek to hold on like entitled parasites. Let me give you an example--just bear with me in getting there.

In his article Matthews Downplays CBIZ Link (December 23rd), Keith Phucas writes: "Facing scrutiny over Montgomery County's decision to self-insure employees and questions about the counties dealings with a health benefits consultant, CBIZ, that contributed to his campaign, commisioner Matthews denies he's done anything wrong."
Several hundred words later, the article states: "Mathews received six contributions from CBIZ employees totaling just over $23,000, on October 9, 2007, during his campaign." In other words, Mr. Phucas matter of factly represents that the contributions came from CBIZ; and then later clarifies (what is already apparent) that the contributions actually came from CBIZ employees. Does that sound vaguely familiar?
It should because the approach taken by the Times Herald is the precise approach taken by Eckman/Thomas in the postcard that led to the Mascaro lawsuit. The postcard began by listing contributing vendors, and then went on to clarify that it was people affiliated with the organization that made the contributions. Strangely, however, none of Mr. Phucas' many articles about the Mascaro suit ever mention this clarification.
Taken in context, no reasonable person could say that the Times Herald article was defamatory--and certainly not criminal. Yet in the face of an equally absurd contention, a contention aimed at disenfranchising the voters of LP, the Times Herald remains conspicuously silent.
So if you ask, are the residents of LP upset about the stranglehold of special interests upon their government--the answer is yes. You need look no further than the resounding numbers of the last election to reach that definitive conclusion. And the problems are not limited to LP. We know the roots of favoritism extend to Norristown--yet hope they have not reached 410 Markley Street. Now, as always, we place our faith in the press to be a bastion for justice and a voice for democracy.

To OMG poster, nowhere in all the posted blogs does it state that J.P. Mascaro & Sons contributed to the D&D campaign. It refers to family and employees donating and any referral to Mascaro can be attributed to Pat or Mike or the "Family" as they like to put it.

Check out D&D campaign expense report, money was given by Pat Mascaro's wife, and several of his firms employees among them a lawyer and sales manager. Now why would a lawyer and sales manager who don't even live in LP. Why would they want to see Dininny and Dougherty win an election? How much did they donate to the candidates who live in their community?

As they say in Punxsutawney, it ain't over till is over.

The Interpreter said...

lET'S TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT.

While reading all the above blogs this is the way I read the problem.

Dininny & Dougherty ran as a team.
Employees and family donated to the campaign.

Eckman & Thomas ran as a team.

Eckman & Thomas sent out a piece of literature stating that the employees and a family member from Mascaro & Sons donated to the Dinniny & Dougherty campaign.

Dininny at a public meeting supported Mascaro & Sons and their bid for the trash contract.

Mascaro & Sons received the contract with Mr. Dinniny voting for it.

NOW....What's the problem?

Mascaro sued..It's in the courts hands. See what they decide. Money talks and BS walks.

You bet LP has more pluses than minuses when it comes to doing all that really is possible in a day, week, month or years' time. As we look at the seasons, we should try to bring the things wrong up-to-date. One of them is street parkers where it makes it almost impossible to see around on-coming cars or children playing. Thrush Lane, Apple Valley Lane, Sparrow Lane and Lantern Lane are traveled quite heavily in the AM, starting around 5 AM for the morning rush and from 2:30 PM until approx. 7 PM. So, during the winter hours these streets need to be clear and when weather is changing to sleet and snow, the owners of these cars need to have them relocated to their driveways. With the ever presence of Township Vehicles, certainly someone would be able to stop and place a card on the windshield to tell them to move their cars. Each year a certain amount of cards in duplicate form could be printed and the license number, street and date that the request was made and these cards could be on file so that if the cars are not moved a fine would follow. School Buses, Snow Plows, and neighbors trying to negotiate around these vehicle would be forever greatful.

AS far as the BIG developers, Mr. Dininny and Mr. Sassu made sure they took care of them in December. You left out Mrs. Altieri in your blog, don't you consider her an honest person? I have to say I am surprised to see Supervisors Brown, DiPAolo and Thomas hire a lawyer to invesigate any wrong doing with the award of the MAscaro contract. I think everyone was present for the contrat approval. At least I hope they were all present for such an important meeting. I don't see what would be illegal about it but like I said, maybe they know something I don't. They're such good people. I hope this legal distraction doesn't get in the way of all the work they have to do now. All of us who voted for Eckman and Thomas are expecting them to do as promised and live up to their good names. " The 15 people over 55 representing the younger crowd at the meetings who may be home watching over their siblings, going over their homework, changing diapers etc". They also stated "Don't knock the age- intelligence & common sense comes with it. The people you mentioned are slightly over the 55
group, They have the time to put forth the effort needed. Please add the term perfection too intelligence and common sense. As the STORY TELLER referred to me as the WATCHDOG, I plan to live up to that moniker. As in the past I will sign my name.

Why Zoning Hearing Board Alternate Tom?

Why not a bonafide member of a Board?

I was promised a position by E and T during the campaign, but I was USED.

Were you?

Tom Borai said...

I wasn't promised anything by any of the sitting supevisors. Mrs. Altieri voted against me. I guess it was an alternate position because there was only one slot open. I spent five years as a bonafide zoning member, I guess with my past experience I fit the post. Maybe, just maybe if a slot opens up, who knows. Sorry pet a snake, if I knew who you were we could discuss the issue over some suds.

Venom Catcher said...

Dear Pet a Snake.

You may have been promised a board position by E & T, but, it takes three votes to confirm. Did you contact the other Supervisors for their support? Politics makes strange bedfellows. If I remember correctly Mr. Borai ran for Supervisor and got his rear end kicked. He did hurt Mr.Dininiy and Mr. Dougherty by taking away much needed votes. Could be why they made him an alternate. In a previous blog someone named him a watchdog, could be the reason for his appointment. Let the Supervisors know your still interested in serving your community, there will be added positions available I hope. If you worked for E & T only to be appointed to a board, you were used. But, that's POLITICS.

New supervisors and the new Chairman is? Two new supervisors have a wish list, but then so does the old supervisors. I hope the new supervisors have patience with the the old-handed.

Anonymous said...

Here we go again...same old story! Hiring all the professional croney friends of the supervisors. The only difference is we are stacking more lawyers on top of more lawyers on the backs of us taxpayers. Then, we fill the boards with people who cashed in from lawsuits against the township. The icing on the the cake is the patronage appointments to the boards.

Anonymous said...

Stan, How do you get to publish a post like this one.

Please have anonymous explain where there is more than one lawyer being replaced?

Who are the people who cashed in on lawsuits against the township.

And last but not least, who are the appointed candidates who owe anything to the supervisors.

If you know what you speak of,please keep your mouth shut.

I saw the woman in high heels take a shot a Brown and DiPaolo for not attending the Dininny/Sassu love fest. I would have to agree with Brown and DiPaolo, if they treated me like they treated them for the past four years, I would have gone on vacation. Sassu said that the Elvis show didn't cost the taxpayers any money, well who paid the solicitor, engineer, manager and all the staff to sit through the video show and then the Elvis show. He looked more like batman in that costume.

Thank the good Lord that Eckman and Thomas have joined the board.

Midnight Blues said...

With a new Chairman taking over the helm , I pray that he get's rid of Mr. Sassu's three minute clock. Of course if you don't have an answer to a taxpayers question that's one way to shut them up. It will be interesting to see if the woman in high heels will try to capture the camera with the new board. Seeing she wrote that she is not a big fan of Supervisor elect Eckman. I'm sure that Mrs. Eckman is not looking for her respect. I may be wrong, Mrs. Eckman was at the meeting to except her award for being a member of the Park & Recreation Committee.(Retired). The woman in the high heels should worry about the respect people give her when she conducts her own meetings. You get respect when you give it. Maybe Mr. Brown and DiPaolo had their own agenda by not showing up for the Dininny and Sassunlove feast. Let's wait and see what the year 2010 brings, then take your shots. Peace and Love.

Word on the street.

"Heels" will not be seeking the center seat. She's saving her energy for ANOTHER push at committeeperson. When your not successful in two previous runs, it should send a message that no one out there likes you or you split personality. If it were not for previous appointments you would still be sitting in left field. It takes a winner to get elected.

Thanks for the Mess said...

I am pointing to left field.

Here is a prediction that you can put money on.

Janice Kearney will be a Committeeperson in Lower Providence.

Not only will she beat Kathie Eskie, but she will crush Kathie Eskie.

Call her heels, call her whatever you want. Keep talking it up. You obviously see Janice Kearney as a threat.

God forbid a Committeeperson get in that would do more that go to free fundraisers, eat cheese and pat themselves on the back.

You think 2 days a year at the polls make you all public servants?

You should be scared of her.

After she gets in, how foolish are you going to look?!

Anonymous said...

Hey Heels. It looks like Trooper Mary hurt your ego somewhat. You should be careful about your predictions, you stated the Eagles were going to the super bowl. The Flyers were going to take the stanley cup. Boy, with a record like yours, I would stay away from predictions. Ms Kierney would be a threat to Mrs Eskie only in the cheese and crackers department. Talk about pats on the back, one has to flop their hair in order to see theirs. Fundraisers, freebies, hugging developers, you have made your share. You state that Ms. Keirney will CRUSH Mrs. Eskie, be careful in what you wish for, Mrs. Eskie has been down that yellow brick road more times than you can imagine. I believe by your blog you are taking a shot at all commmitee persons, and why would someone be scared by a two time looser?

Before posting a reply to Heels last blog I had to look up the word chutzpah to see if the definition hadn't changed over the past several years. Foruntately it hadn't, and still means having unmitigated gall, and, yes it still fits "Heels' blog. Janice, do you actually believe all those inane comments you have made; especially after been rather convincingly beaten twice previously by a person who you never be capable of wearing just one of Ms.Eskie's shoes(read Heels). Janice, I'm sorry to have to say, "that you are obviously a legend only in your own mind". Very few people who know you are actually supportive towards you politically in your own district, and you must ultimately accept the fact that at the end of year 2010 you will be nothing but a memory, and not a good one at that.

The Good Wife says..If I were Mrs. Kearny, I would run again. Why not? That's politics and what keeps it interesting! I'm afraid she would have to drastically change her approach though to get the win. Mrs. Kearney is a Republican Party girl not the people's Neighborhood Committee Woman and the people in her district are smart enough to know it. The voters like Mrs. Eskie and they voted for her not Mrs. Kearney. It will be tough to change their minds.
P.S.
Dolphin Eye is a friend of hers but quite naive. Her widow status shouldn't make anyone feel badly for their political comments. No one twisted her arm to run for committee woman, supervisor or board positions. She chooses to attend Township and Republican party-related meetings and after meeting cocktails three or four times a week not the voters. It is her choice to devote her time to politics. The people voted and their message to her was clearly not to bother but she seems to like the limelight. If she does not like the political heat then she should remove herself from the political kitchen. Then she could spend more time at home with her family. I tend to think she likes the limelight.

Some of these posts are just proof that now that Dininny is gone, the perpetually disgruntled have to find something or someone else to complain about. Good God get a life people!! Who cares how much time Mrs. Kearney spends working for the Republican party, at least somebody is. There is a D in the White House and Congress, no? I guess that's her fault too.

Suck it up and deal with it or pack up your marbles.

My gripe with Mrs. Kearney and some of the others are that just want to be elected to SOMETHING or ANYTHING for that matter. T. If they take their hat out of the ring for a minute and think about what they really want to do they may get some votes and win a few elections.

Douzaine said...

To the conspiracy theorists out there that think any posters who agree with one another must all be the same person - I don't know who Dolphin is nor do I care. It's not me. Couldn't tell you last time i went to church so much for your theory on 'God'.

To my knowledge, Mrs. kearney has only ever run for election to one job. She was appointed to others . How is that worse than Colleen Eckman who ran for two different jobs and was appointed to one (both women were appointed by Dininny and his crew). Oh and they both wear heels from time to time. Not sure why any of this is relevant to anything.

I think we need more younger people and women in politics and they are both. At least they are willing to get out there and try, not many people willing to do that in LP because of all the gripers.

In it Mr. Phucas Stated " CBIZ gave Damsker-Hoeffel campaign five equal payments adding up to $12,500

Her then goes on to say CBIZ officials contributed $24,463 to Matthews political campaign.

How is this any different than the Mascaro suit against L.P. Township officals?

There flyer staed the same facts as today's paper.

The Times Herald covers MONTGOMERY COUNTY, the flyer covered L.P.

Thank you for your story.

Will the Judge hearing the Mascaro case be able to rule against the persons putting out the terrible piece of election literature?

Will the Judge read the issue of the Times Herald about CBIZ and see the similarity between the two.

This could be a Supreme Court case.

The Montgomery County Judge could get notoriety.

Not that Montgomery County needs more print space in the local papers.

I wish we could have a Tourist Listing for our Township. To have a brochure in the Hotels and Eateries would help and also maybe the bus station/rail stations. Don't forget LP has the prison with bus stop included ready for touring, the hospital drunk tanks and right up the road is not only the Moyer Dump and landfill but a Superfund site. Contineu along and you can take water samples of the Perkiomy. If that does not fill your day head up the mile hill furte to the adult book store or east past the trailer park or south for the vfcc filled with vacant concrete buildings and parking lots. Heading west on the Ridge is the township complex. That is where all the fun and games take place. If the bocci courts are full stop by the administration building and ask for daddy daycare. If you go too far north or west you open space. Quick turnaround you entered a world class Worcester township where families enjoy a good quality of life. All Aboard.

Well, we COULD have had some culture with the American Revolution Center, but all those backwoods hillbillies down in the 'thumb' didn't want those jobs and tax dollars in their back yards, so yes, all we really have is a prison, a dump, a sleazy hotel and some gin joints. Then again the culture at the prison or the drug rehab place is full of 'culture' just not the culture you might want. The only tourists we get are the ones riding the bus from Philly to come visit them.

Please don't forget the entrance into AUDUBON. That famous polka-dot building formerly called Bud's Bar. You can thank Dininny's board for that fiasco. Almost as bad about the $10,000 npobody knows about.

What a tour - You really forgot the one hotel on Trooper Road and the golf course plus the one of a kind "Jack's Tavern" that almost every young person visited, until the zoning change and then the rezoning change that made it difficult to keep this watering hole open. The most visited I believe is Saint Gabes, the Trails, that are packed almost every day of the week and of course the Audubon Shrine, plus the kids corner for rides near the Perkiomen. There are quite a few historic places left and the view along the creeks are really a welcome site. Go back and take another look at Lower Prov., I believe we have a great place to live and the ability to influence other people to join us. Farm land is pretty but there is only so much "green" that will interest most people, they can ooh and ahh but that is it unless they can ride on something, eat at a great place and have time to rest inbetween in a great hotel, which we have here in LP.

You are correct about that area of LP - Eagleville going up to Collegeville and along Eagleville Road has quite a few sleezy places, some built by the County and some that operate for the convenience of people that are sleezy. You have the Township hiding its operation that most people miss and then maybe that was planned that way. But really the Audubon Area is a nice place to live and most kids enjoy the area and if you are the out-of-doors type we have everything from golf to gun club and ball fields to hiking/biking trail close at hand. Shopping and places to eat/drink are still there. Churches are plentiful - take your choice or none. Enjoy!

Change of subject. What do you think of the School Taxes here in LP as presented? I don't think I can financially afford and more increases. Right now we have cut our spending to the bone and we do not eat out, which was a monthly thing since we retired. I believe we have outlived our way of life, which was fine 20 years ago, but now we just can't make ends meet. How are other retirees and those that had their job outsourced doing?

When the Trail opened there were suggestion on how we could help the County with its many seniors. I called Matthew's Office and suggested we have a food drive for all people that use the trail to donate two cans of some type of food for the Food Pantry. The gentleman told me Oh, I don't think that Mr. Matthews or the Commissioners would approve of it. Well, why not? Most of the people that use the trail and parking lot on Pawlings Road and Egypt Road are not from the LP Area, but other parts of the County, in fact Chester County has quite a few bikers using the trail. Work it out and have a Volunteer Force to supervise every weekend or special weekends that will be posted. If they do not have caned food, a $ donation would be the alternative. We do have honest people that would not walk away with either the cans or $$.

a comment was made on 1/30 that on Eaglevill Road there are sleezy places. I wish you would define what you are talking about. I live on Eagleville Rd. and have for over 20 years. I resent that remark. We are not sleezy and my family has paid their fair share of property tax and township tax for well over 60 years. If you are referring to Brother Paul's (formally Eagleville Hotel, Streamlight, the county prison and Eagleville Hospital) I do not believe they are sleezy. Maybe you should stay right in Audubon were you belong and please, try not to use Eagleville Road on your travels, we don't want our "sleezy" places to rub off on you. I'll make a "sleezy" bet, that my neighbors and myself have paid alot more in property taxes then you will pay in your lifetime. And people wonder why no one outside of the township likes Lower Providence!

The real scoop and those that see only the bad side of the Township of Lower Providence. We have a lot going for us - I am so glad we have the Emergency Management Coordinator, Charles DeFrangesco. He has notified all citizens that car removal from the streets was necessary during this Snow Emergency. Thank You - I wish we could insist that cars be parked in the driveways instead of the streets, because that is why they are there. Have a great weekend!

Sleazy - Shoddy = made carelessly of inferior material or not firmly or closely woven - flimsy. I'm not a builder, so I do not know which building or establishment the reference was geared at. Surely not the County Prison or the Book Store.

Went to bed last evening around 11:30 and cars remained parked on Thrush Lane, Lantern Lane and Sparrow Lane around 11:00. This AM, guess what? They were gone - hope the towing cost isn't too much, but really it would be nice for the drivers using these streets to have two lanes for traveling and not a training course for the new drivers. Our new Supervisors need to take a look at the situation and new signs certainly would help for the residents that do not understand the street is not their parking lot.

Anonymous said...

Great, the cars disappear for a few hours just enough time for the snow plows to make a few swipes. But, guess what they're back! The road remains on the slick side, although the salt solution is doing a fairly good job, but when is the Alert Over?? I would like to see it extended for a 48 hour window, because I really need to be able to pull out of my driveway with out worrying about the neighbors cars. Big problems in LP when it comes to cars and trucks parked on streets that can only accommodate two lanes of traffic. Really, who is the Adult in these families where they permit parking on the street that endangers all other motorist?

C.D. plus said...

When you apply for a licence plate for your vechicle it gives you the right to drive in the commonwelth for a period of a year. That permit also gives you the right to park your car anywhere you wish unless posted. Get off your fanny in the trush, sparrow lanes and go to the police dept. and ask them to request the supervisors to post those lanes. I'ts a no brainer.

Anonymous said...

CD and Anonymous, It should be a No Brainer, but that probably is why these residents can not see anything wrong when parking on the streets here in LP and also in other townships. After all they are not inconvenienced. Problem solved?

Build it so they will be more confortable doing time up in Eagleville.
The Administration Bldg. I can understand - but there needs to be some way of halfing the population of weekenders instead of making more room.
John Rafferty's idea of the ability to purchase a 6 Pack at the local grocery sounds like a good way of making sure the family that eats together drinks together. The budget for the grocery store is X amount of dollars - the six pack should be included in that total.
Weekenders doing outside work while spending their time at the joint, should also pay for the food and those that prepare it - or is that part of the total now??
We are making it too easy for those that think there is no bottom to the bottle/glass and driving - well the car knows its way home - right??

I’ve lived here for 47 years and have witnessed as well as felt the repercussions, good and bad, of our township leaders. Through it all I've heard only one continuous sound, that of them flushing our future away!

What makes everyone think that business as usual will change? The more things change, the more they stay the same.

A message to our new arrivals: Amaze your friends and neighbors and do the right thing. Is that possible? Only time will be the judge of that.

This last year has proven that LP Supervisors have been reading more than their own Township's Newsletters. The road crew has been "feeling our pain" when it comes to road conditions. The plowing and pretreatment works and we now see the results. The Supervisors need to check all areas for poor drainage (that can not be done on a sunny day) pot holes and draining ditches that pose a danger for any car that is forced to tweek by another parked auto. So, thanks for the snow alert to make sure the parking situation that needs some more thought and the plowed highways - well done!

We were visiting in a LP neighborhood this Sunday and saw a home that is actually falling apart with quite a few old cars parked in the lawn. The balance of the neighborhood is well maintained - so what gives? We asked one neighbor if any one occupied the house and they did not know - but said someone aired the house out and left, but the electric has been disconnected. It would be nice if the Township were notified if any utility were turned off, don't you think so? This is a sad situation. There has been complaints called in, so I presume there is nothing that can be done.

Anonymous said...

Why not snap a picture of this property as it appears now. If a neighbor has any photos from a few years back that showed how the property looked when this owner purchased the property, it may sway your local government to take action. One person should never be permitted to cause the value of another persons property to go down in value because of neglect or as one person said "I like it that way" response when told to clean up his property. There are Deeds and Codes that need to be followed by local governments.

Anonymous said...

Call and complain when you know rules of a homeowner is not within boundries of common sense. We have noticed there is an awareness now when the local enforcement is taking its time when looking at certain properties that look like something out of skid row. Now, that is good - hope they keep this type of awareness going. We all know complaints have been made - but sometimes a week goes by and then it is off the To-Do List.

I know there are three areas in LP that are residential Buckwalter, Sparrow and Thrush that have residents that know they are not complying with the law. Maybe all residents on the street could receive a copy, sometimes the who's to know attitude is their cover.

Today I saw a Code Enforcement vehicle and a gentleman (white hair) checking a property. I believe his log book would make great reading if something actually was done as a result of his visits. What really needs to be done is for this person to turn his eyes to other homes in the area as a comparison.

Code Enforcement in our area is a trying job. We have one who knows about building, maintenance and maintaining the rules set forth by Deeds and Township/County/State.
We need to have the Utilities notify the Township Code Enforcement when shut-offs occur. Animal Control needs to take a look at homes that are non-conforming, because there is more than not animals left there and on an occasion some person will take care of this animal. Some how the system is broken when one office does not see it fit to contact another office to come back with an All Clear Answer.

Congestion all day and up to 9:00 PM. Egypt Road is a nightmare. Lights that are not timed correctly. We are a small township - if there is a need for police to help drivers thru the area from Trooper Road to The Bridge - then so be it. The intersection of Park Avenue (Pawlings Road) and Egypt Road was fixed?? Really, who said that? The entrance to the 422 Bypass off of Trooper Road was the answer, but most State,County and Township Officials say, well it is not area that is causing the problem. Well, it sure is. Get the cars out of the developments and on to 422 Bypass by the ramp that will make sure they are heading toward Pottstown in the PM. We are not too happy campers right now and if it is possible the Rendell Adm. will not have any left-overs for next year or six.

Anonymous said...

Exactly what is the PA Law on passing a car on the right side? Well, on Egypt Road if a car is stopped to make a left turn, cars will tie up traffic by trying to pass on the right - this also ties up the intersection. We have discussed this time and time again, but when any road exiting on to Egypt Road their way should be clear of cars on Egypt due to traffic backup. The intersections need not be the one with a signal light - any road should be clear for an exit from a development.
In many cases a car deciding to pass on the right is not aware he is passing a vehicle that will be moving straight ahead and there was no intent to make a left turn..so, we need to have More Signs in Plain View - the time is NOW.

Oh, yes come to think of it, they were the bodies on the lawn chairs. LOL

Speaking of Congestion, when is it legal to have an automobile/truck parked on the street for months without an inspection sticker on it? Our street is plagued with street parkers and most of the time they are moved for an hour or so. The officials make a pass usually every day on this thru street and have not noticed that there is a problem? Hard to believe.

New Neighbors on the block. Driveways are used for? Got that right not for your car. Now we have more cars parked on the street and more kids playing on the streets. The blinders need to be taken off.

Zoning of Buds Bar. We were discussing the history of this building and the use that it has had over the many years. Why not have the Historic Society of LP purchase this property and take off the addition that extends out on to Park Avenue to make its appearance look a little more presentable and open it as "Jack's Tavern" and place all historical memos in there. A gift shop could be included. Audubon has a great history, even though some people only see $$$$ and knock it down and build modern.

A lot of various crops are being grown in Lower Providence. Now that would be great if some one could eat or they could be consumed in some way. There is one home that has been producing old junkers. This site is not on some back street, but on a thru street that Police/Code Officers frequent. What is the law, if the Deed to a property states that cars must to be moved or with a current license/inspection? One very stick point that needs to be addressed. The other one is over-night parking. It is not funny when teens/uncaring drivers see how fast they can manuver through the maze and chicken other cars coming in the opposit direction. This is just the beginning of summer and the Township has it's hands full trying to run camps for kids and finding ways to finance various projects - but safety should come first and homes that that are out of touch with reality both asking for trouble.

Anonymous said...

What qualifies a property,in a residential neighborhood, that continues tostore junk cars,as a Junk Yard in Progress? We believe we have a full fledged junk yard in business in the "Audubon Close" Development. We believe we have Zoning that should take care of this - right? Well, we are still waiting!!

Street Parking in LP is a training for parallel parking and a serpentine course used for the famous driving test here in PA. What is really interesting why their insurance coverage does not increase. If these car owners are only visitors - that is one good reason to street park. The whole situation is now out of line with company trucks, trucks that are not inspected sitting their - some weeks on end, others on a daily basis. Eagleville Road has the signs that says No Parking - so we are sure some of these signs are available to cut down on street parking. We do pay the state for a license to DRIVE ON streets within this commonwealth, but exactly what part do street parkers see as their own just to park and neighbors and any person trying to visit the neighborhood must wait their turn to get through the maze. Study should have already been done - the results were? How about No Over Night Parking or No Parking from 6AM to 10 AM and 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM! The time listed would get people to work/school without worry who should go first thru the maze.

Anonymous said...

Heard by way of the Grapevine that coming up at the Zoning Board Hearing is that one of our PAST SUPERVISORS wants to build another garage or some outside building that does not fit the Zoning. This should be interesting!

Anonymous said...

Street Parkers should consider the children that play in or around the entrance to their homes. Downingtown had a School Bus run over a child that had been a passenger. I have no idea what happened, and hope the child will come out OK. But, the point being is we need to have street parkers know that they are putting a child or an adult in danger because of the inability to see around cars in time to adjust the walking pattern. All because street parkers are too lazy to shift cars so that the visibility for all people traveling on their street has an even chance and the children also would have one great big chance of not being hit by an auto. The time is now LP - check the parking and have signs posted that would help every person either living on that street, driving on the street or playing on/near the street.

Anonymous said...

Parking on the Street is one thing and should now be taken care of with use of signs - i.e. no overnight parking - would maybe help. What we have found interesting is the ability of one new home owner to operate a business that uses trucks and trailers to go on in a Residential Area. Parking in neighbors driveways, a good deed by them, seem to be the answer to this person's way of getting around "the law"... !!
Any person that wants to set up a business that uses large equipment/trucks etc. should consider buying a place in the country with acres for his plans and not destroy a neighborhood that up to this point was a very nice and well maintained neighborhood.

Anonymous said...

Don't Back Down Zoning Officers!
You call that a "Shed"!!! Shame on LP Zoning for letting this get out of hand. Down it should come. Any citizens that try to do business in a residential area needs to be fined until their act is cleared up.
Second Chance!
Parking in the street and very large trucks going up and down the street should be a clear indication a new comer that has been informed he could not do business in the residential neighborhood is in need of a lesson and $$$$ will be the only way to correct his business as usual and his very bad attitude.

Anonymous said...

A Shed?? Anonymous is right. We can not permit a building as this to be listed as a shed and any person with property around that piece of land should look the other way. If the Zoning Board permits this building to stand, then all other property owners can build a "Shed" exactly like the one in question. I know some people feel sorry for the widow of the former Supervisor in question, but HE made this mistake. Don't back down Zoning Board - down it must come!!!

Anonymous said...

Zoning Board needs to correct a mistake when giving the former Supervisor permission to build a SHED. Take a look at history of this Supervisor and some Supervisors that remain on the Board - now does that tell you anything? One XSupervisor had an addition added to his home and his statement was the Supervisors informed him to do it now, don't wait until after the election... Now this was the gist of his statement. Anonymous you are correct - DOWN IT MUST COME - THANK YOU!

Anonymous said...

Now that LP is the proud owner of an addition to the Prison for the Weekenders - we should note that it was suggested that it could be used for non-citizens awaiting deportation because of immigration violations. The cost of housing such violators would add to our treasury but on the other hand this building is for non-violent offenders (weekenders) right?

Anonymous said...

A Shed? How much does it cost to have a full blown building in a backyard? No, we were not referring to construction cost! Down it must come would be the proper answer.

Anonymous said...

Who signed the permit for such a "Shed"? The Zoning Officer was? But of course if you are a supervisor or x supervisor, maybe with such a great track record no person would doubt he would do everything by the book - right!
Go back and down it should come.

Anonymous said...

The Right To Know in Lower Providence. Were all property owners notified prior to the Zoning Board's Approval for the construction of this building - Shed? Who inspected the property and the construction? We need to have this in print NOW! Too many x supervisors with a lot of baggage seem to be connected to this situation.

Anonymous said...

Maybe it's the Committee that needs to have a "X" in front of their name immediately. Because you have experience in Township Procedures and Rules does not mean you have common sense and are able to leave personal feeling out of a decision.

Anonymous said...

Sandy Street isn't anything when you consider how many Zoning/Building Permits in LP were swept under the rug it seems - business as usual?

Anonymous said...

The Downs Farm in Trooper has been sold. I missed this sale. Who purchased it and what type of development will we see. If it is more homes - then surely the new school addition will not be wasted. So, now the next interesting happening will be the receipt of our School Tax Notice - now that will be interesting. My total amount of $100.00 is all that I have to use as play-around-money. So, if the increase is more than that - one more home (mine) sold to the highest bidder after 59 years of hard/good times.

Anonymous said...

Pre-planned motions - now that was noticed by all present. Is it within the law to postpone a meeting to await the member of a committee that was to make a motion that was voted on and confirmed?? To court or not to court, that is the question. A building that is not within the code was built - the township let it slide - an x supervisor just happened to build this "shed" - he dies and now before anything else is done to complete this "shed" - neighbors and the community want it down. So, what is the problem LP? Admit your wrong, take down the building, give a permit to build a "shed" so the wife can get on with doing business as usual and feelings will heal.

Anonymous said...

What good is Zoning if the area is completely changed in 5 - 10 years because the Township is under "new" visionaries and what was a village is now like a used car lot. The use of "Buds" Tavern property for the Historic Society is a great idea. It needs to have quite a bit of work done - but at least it is something of historic value without neon lights and large signs stating exactly what it is being used for as other homes are now showing signs of this type of so called "village" reconstruction.

The Pawlings Road and Egypt Road intersection. The street leading to our Firehouse has no turn lane on Pawlings Road - why? There is a small grassy mound that makes it almost impossible to use the right turn on to Egypt - why? Do you mean PennDot or the County approved this intersection? Now going on out on Pawling Road to the back entrance of Oaks Shopping center (which was approved when?). The barrier remain too high for any person to see on-coming traffic and that is for cycle/car traffic - needs to be fixed. Continue on out the Valley Forge Road and Pawlings Road intersection - Poor, Prior Planning for the Right Hand Turn - There isn't enough space for two vehicles, one turning left and the other right. How many times have the guard rails been replaced?? How many people involved?? Total cost because of poor planning was?? It seems that no matter what our road crews - Township, County or State does it is always the easy way out.

Anonymous said...

Shopping Center shrubs. If all shopping centers had a code written that would state plants could not be any higher that say 18 inches, it would make it a heck of a lot easier to see other cars.

This is one great day for the Supervisors and Township Manager to take a look at our roads and the drainage - we have many weekenders that could help clear the drainage areas. Check with our Township Road Supervisor - he can use help.

Keeping Lower Providence Neighborhood Clean.. Start with making sure drainage ditches are cleaned would be great. If the township put them in - then they should be responsible for cleaning on a regular basis. Perpetual Maintenance it's called.

Can't get there from here ! It looks like PE is checking their lines because in the AM we leave our home - all is well and in a few hours - can't get into the development. Today it was Robin and Egypt and also Lantern and Rittenhouse. A little sign would be a help to tell us when this all is going to happen and what hours we can expect it. Unbelievable!

Anonymous said...

PE - when the cap comes off will they be a supplier or a distributor? Check it out. If you are in the dark now - wait! The President and all his men need to place this first on their list, right next to immigration, jobs & bringing the Troops home. This was the big discussion at last Tuesday's Dinner Meeting. I think a weekly will be needed come September here in LP. We sure have some big races ahead of us and the need to know is right there for all candidates to answer.

Anonymous said...

Our Township Managers are in need of a tour around the various developments to see how the Zoning and maintenance of streets plus the ever presence of street parkers that have not be addressed for over two years. School openings are right around the corner, now is the time to place new signs that would make driving a heck of a lot easier and safer. Maybe no parking from 6AM to 9AM and from 3PM to 6PM would be a starter, but then the overnight crew is there and snow, sleet and rain will never convince these people to park in their driveways.
Now is also a great time to get rid of the collection of cars that seem to be the pride of some owners instead of mowing the grass in residential areas - don't tell us it because they are antiquees.

Anonymous said...

You did not pay your Property Taxes for maybe three years...Your name is on the Tax Sale list for September...How many times have your called Xspand? I do believe this company is over their head and in need of assistance. Properties within our neighborhood are owned by Veterans or now their Familiy who have many problems, so trying to assist in a small way by helping to pay taxes due or making arrangements to have this done is utmost on our mind. But, the stumbling block is Xspand ... the return calls are not made. Our Township/County should know the BIG PROBLEM that is out there.

Anonymous said...

I thought I was the only one not getting a return call from Exspand.

I had a suggestion that I thought would be great. Have a Community Day to clean up homes and their exterior that need help or the people living in the home or not living in the home would appreciate it. Not one person showed signs of interest - not even students that need the get some volunteer hours in - what is wrong with this Township and also the adjoining Townships?

Anonymous said...

A lesson to be learned from Skipack and Limerick. Just because they know the Township and the way it works does not mean all is well and no person checked the "hen house".. What a mess!

We need to set a time limit on Halloween. We had a few cars pull up in front of our home around 8:00 PM and out came all types of kids - 15 to be exact. I asked them where they lived and the one adult said nothing only shook her head and lifted her shoulders. One child said "way far away" now that answers my question on this holiday as to what happened to just the neighborhood. But, as for the timing - 6:00 PM to 8:00 or 8:30 PM should be enough time for the kids in the neighborhood to trick or treat. The way to advertise is a sign in the various stores and on TV and Radio and in Spanish also, because the lonely adult with the kids I was referring to above could not speak English. Turn off outside lights you say? We did and 9:30 PM plus the kids were ringing our door bells - Give me a break!

What happened to the "Snow Route" and the rule if any car was parked on the street would be towed away and a fine would also be attached? Surely here in January, 2011 Lower Providence must have raked in quite a few bucks because of all the cars parked on the streets. How much was really collected and who are the offenders?

Anonymous said...

LP is probably getting rich this winter with so many cars parked on the street and snow plows just go around them. Who reports the street parkers?

Anonymous said...

Who reports the Street Parkers? Good question. Police or Maintenance Personnel should carry notices that should be placed on the windshield and a copy given to the Township Police and "Code Enforcement Officer" to follow thru with a fine after one notice is given. If this is noted on the first notice, what is the problem. Safety 1st, and hurt feeling 10th.

Village Commercial, Large Business Signs and illegal parking. Well, of course we are not talking about the surrounding area of our Township Building. The surrounding area looks great and makes it great for all that meet and greet our Township Homeowners. What we really need is to keep the Village look. Don't bulldoze old buildings as Norristown did and now what do they have? nothing. Just to spite various owners, do we turn a blind eye and give out permits? Do hope not, we have been checking the Zoning and some times it looks that way. Egypt Road and Pawlings/Park Avenue is an example of OK for one person, but NO, NO for another. Keep our nose clean here in LP, follow the rules for every person/business, no quick ordinance change, and when all rules are met, the business can open its doors.

Anonymous said...

The size of a sign is important when a business is within the Village Area. Tacky is one word for a few new businesses that have appeared in the last couple years on Egypt. I know what looks great in some persons eye, looks tacky to others. So, why not compromise when the sign is within a development.

Anonymous said...

I believe we have one Supervisor that has stayed a little too long in that position. I know, he already knew the ropes, so that is why he was appointed. But, he now needs to take a leave of absence or just sit back and let the young people with visions for the township take over. Sorry about that, we have quite a few elderly people (62 and over) that need to take a rest, fatigue is now showing on your mental condition and that is not good.

Anonymous said...

Tacky is correct when it comes to Egypt Road near Park Avenue. Did you notice who is buying up the older homes and the type of business that now occupies them? Would any person buy a home backing on to a small business with windows plastered with signs that looked like South Street.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 5/23...You are correct. The word to describe that area is Tacky. The Zoning Board has taken a Village that we all loved and turned it into a Zone that will not benefit any person - business or personal. Too bad!

Anonymous said...

Tacky!! We are now looking at a flickering sign in that area of Egypt Road... Exactly how do our Supervisors and Zoning Board see LP and right now, Audubon Village? Another request for the completion of Shannondell Drive - A Theater production was great this past week (they rent this building out for a price and we all thought it was just a private addition to the retirees)- but it would have been better if the Drive were completed to Park Avenue. That was the original plan - do it! Neilson purchased a home when there was a negative vote on the Golf Course and Club Building - exactly who is running LP? He does have a large IOU - right? The five lots on Cardinal that is his, now services the Golf Course - interesting.. Transfer went through when? Oh, yes when the street through the Golf Course had to be taken out. So many little things are now coming up by the Tax Payers. I will admit the swim club area is great, but the exit of trucks/cars should be where the street light has been installed.

Anonymous said...

Changing the face of Audubon Village?
Exactly why did the Supervisors think it needed this type of change? Congestion - has not changed. Shannondell Blvd. - not completed. Street Parking - increased and tempers now becoming more noticeable.
Because of cars parked all day and night, the neighborhood homes have no chance of being sold. Speed increasing through all neighborhoods - is it because of the congestion? Promised completion of roads need to be top priority.

Anonymous said...

Tacky does not cover the new face of the Audubon Section of Egypt & Park/Pawling Road. We need zoning back and before the village disappears, the Historic Society needs to take a look at when all these buildings were built so that some how it does not go down in history as an uncaring generation. Look at what happened to Norristown - It is happening now here in LP.

Anonymous said...

Too busy is why our Township is beginning to look like shaggy town. Trying to make the entrance to the township building and library seems to be where all the attention is - but how many older people that are unable to attend these meetings and events? Maybe a shuttle would be nice - get a bid out to see if any small bus company would be interested. Now! Not next year or when you get around to it.

Anonymous said...

Shannondell Blvd. a private driveway? I attended meetings and this Blvd. was a straight-thru to Park Avenue. Change of heart? Well, that does not help congestion in that area and convenience of any person going to the shopping centers or home and to work. Let's get it done, all lights are in place. The workers are here and shovel ready as our President's many quotes. We tax payers need to have a system that is pro residents and businesses. If the retirement complex, that has a great big IOU to the Township is the governing cause of the hold-up, then we need new people, no matter how capable, out of office.

When a newsletter is published, maybe there should be a column on "The Most Asked Questions"I that are not covered by the written guidelines in the rules and regulations here in the township. I have watched a couple neighborhoods slowly go down hill and the reason is one neighbor not caring about the neighbors on either side of his property. Street Parking in front of neighbors property, Boundary Lines not considered when planting, drainage and parking autos and last but certainly not the only causes is loud noises during the work week after say 11:00 PM.

The 9/11 "Memorial" being built in LP is one of the best things that has happened in LP for the last 5-6 years. Our family is a WWII Generation as stated in an article in the TH by our LP Official. We all have great memories of our family members that have passed due to one of the many wars. This 9/11 and 12/7 are the two I remember the most. I do hope a history of 9/11 will be handed out to the young people attending, because that is why we are in the situation we now are in. Pearl Harbor is for my generation and why family members did not make it home.

In their planning for Egypt Road near "Bud's Bar" - they should have suggested the "Shopping Center" as a great place to set up shop because the parking is there and people will frequent that area. Our State Rep. is there, two banks, a bar/restaurant, real estate office, post office & UPS, laundry, crafts center, catholic shop, $store, and a barber/beauty parlor, liquor store, parts store & cleaner. There remains other places of interest in the food area, fast or all purpose and specialty. So, why did this unsightly version of a once beautiful village change so drastically? Was it one man's vision who purchased the homes and sold them to business people?

Anonymous said...

Not too sure Anonymous 8/14. Traffic is terrible between Crawford and the private entrance across the street to a golf course to Pawling/Park Avenue. The new businesses just make it worse. The Golf Course/Swim Club has an entrance as stated above. But why are so many cars & trucks using the old back entrance to the skating arena that causes cars to come to a squeaking halt? This back entrance is across from the public school and when the school year begins, we have double trouble with the buses trying to manage their exit on to Egypt Road. Close down the back entrance~! We have many elderly visitors to the golf club men/women that think they have enough time to turn on to Egypt from the area - really they have a problem with timing - check it out.

Anonymous said...

There are quite a few young men/women that would make their parents and the Township proud. Well, John Rafferty is one person that I have known since birth. Just kidding his father I stated now some day we will see Rafferty for Governor or President. Why not? More young people like John are needed in our Government. Start now to promote his candidacy for any State Office. Really, you can not go wrong.

Anonymous said...

Those elderly men mostly believe the traffic on Egypt should stop for them. The lower driveway to the golf club/swim club should not be used. There is an Exit with a signal light that helps people such as the above to enter Egypt without too much of a problem. The space between the two driveways is approx. 175 feet, so it is or should be no problem for these people to use just one driveway. Common Sense, YES!

Anonymous said...

Just a fast note regarding Mascaro's Employees. As far as I can see, they are top rate. All though the hot, rainy and windy weather the collect our trash and with a smile if I am outside. It is not the best type of job, but whatever they pay these young men, they really earn their salary. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

Put them to work on Shannondell Blvd now. If people visiting or maybe they live in this retirement settlement, they need to know that putting the shift into "D" does not give them the right-of-way at the intersection on Egypt. A thru street would make these elderly people think twice when coming out of their settlement/village. Get with it Lower Providence - a plan is a plan and that is what all people here in LP want carried out. This section needs to be cleaned up - Old Trailers, Old Cars and unfinished buildings makes this end of the village "Tacky" too.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 9/6 - What is the holdup with this Street? The entrance is correct and all signal lights are in place. Shannondell Drive needs to be completed - thru to Park Avenue. Right now, you are correct in believing it to be a private entrance. Tax Payers foot the bill and the inconvenience when it comes to heading to the famous "Eagleville" that seems to be "the" destination for all people that are important, or at least their mail. We love Audubon and would like to see the whole village with the small industrial park remain just that, but this street needs to be completed "Now" as our fearless leader would say.

Anonymous said...

Back in June of this year there was one Blogger that thought it would be a great improvement if the property on Egypt Road across from the retirement home would clean up their act - old trailers and old cars plus some sort of car finishing or repair service that has been there for years when the area was not zoned for this type of business. Now, to make all matters worse the thru street next to the apartment retirement home called Shannondell Drive is still not completed. Do all the LP Supervisors and the Road Supervisors not understand a job is not finished until we are able to use it? In this day and age there is medication for ADD and going back 20+ years for some of our Township Personnel they would be wise to look into it. No more Pay to Play or is there a better way of stating the him/hawling that is going on.

Anonymous said...

Sept. 25th Blogger --- Get use to how the Township is run. The Shannondell Street is not complete and it will drag on, just as "Bud's Bar" situation. Now that is a mess and it looks like the Street's being incomplete is just another way for our citizens to understand "it is their will" (the township's and this developer) not the original plan that was OK'd and zoned. ADD personnel is not the cause - think about it.

Anonymous said...

What property owner is holding up the thru way of Shannondell? Buy them out!!! Well, that is what happened when the GW Property and now the golf course. 7 Properties used for golfing equipment and at least two properties purchased at what at that time seemed to be a fair price, but at the neighborhood's expense. Money is the root of all evil and it shows.

Halloween will be on Monday, October 31st. Every year we ask the Township what hours can we expect visitors. The answer is there are no set hours, how would we enforce them. Turn off your outside lights was one suggestion although most lights are on timers in our community. The reason there should be a time limit is because of the bus system that is used and it makes no difference what time it is they bang on the doors. Last year we had two vans full of kids and one person spoke American English. I asked where they lived and she said far away, King of Prussia. Why was she at my home and on our street, she said my Mom works near here. Now, do you see why I'm always asking for hours to be listed and all cleaning/manufacturing personnel would be able to understand it does apply to them and no special forces would be needed, hopefully.

Anonymous said...

When is this Shannondel Complex scheduled to be completed? The original plan was in place and sure enough maybe the people that they had planned on to occupy this area are gone for one reason or another. A retirement home is usually a short term deal. That is exactly what this type of housing is meant for not some luxury housing but a one time short term deal. Completion would be a welcome site and the road going along this retirement complex should definitely be completed now. The people living in this area will be long gone the way we are going now and their homes next to this road will have very little value if the completion is not soon done. Traffic is not a welcome sign for a person wanting to purchase a home. Lower Providence has bent over backward for this project. It is now time to call it completed and move on if the finances is not there.

Anonymous said...

A need to know why this street is not completed? We have a newsletter that should include articles regarding social issues, but completion of this area is hush - hush?? Our Supervisors are elected and expected to carry out building and zoning problems plus all business associated with the wellbeing of our township without being prejudice.

Anonymous said...

I know some Supervisors when running for office assured the people that this area would not have a thru street in the near future. This is a gated community and somewhere along the line those living there or are patients they need to get in and out, meaning a public road is necessary. I have friends that live in a gated community and it backs on to a public road that is state maintained. This Chester County community has a great reputation for the seniors living there enjoy having visitors and also the nearby shopping centers keep them from feeling left out of the community events. Instead of excluding this community development should think including. I believe it is a more healthy way of living. A little noise should be a welcome change, although the way this LP Retirement Home is built, probably a large wall like the state has been using on the Turnpike might be more to their liking. Well, whatever the reason for this road not being complete, it does not serve LP Business People or the Community that has traffic running through their developments on streets that were built with only two lanes and children trying to ride bikes and just taking a walk.

Anonymous said...

Good question concerning Shannondell's Street that has come to a halt. Election Time is a great time to bring up this issue, but not just on Election Day but NOW. All our friends living in the two developments that could use some help with the traffic caused by people trying to get to a destination but get tied up because there is no street that cuts out the Audubon/Egypt Road intersection so they us the developments. They were assured when this whole project began that their streets would not connect to this development, but that it would go straight through to Park - why the confusion now? Complete this development the street in question does not go through this gated community.

Election Promotion Signs. What happened to the ruling that only a certain amount of signs per household on their lawn and the number being used would also be taken down in a certain lenght of time? There was a cost attached too - remember? The townships/towns should require a certain person be responsible for the number of signs being used before the elections & removable after or a fine would be attached. No more trash.

Anonymous said...

There is a line in the State Budget that provides funds for Penn Dot Workers to take down political signs? Is that only along Interstate Hwys? When was this fund started? It is a joke? Well tell me on whom?

Anonymous said...

Please question any person that has been elected to office why the Shannondell Project is not complete. The road is needed and they know it and cleaning up with this development is also needed. The trailers and used/repair lots across from this project should have been taken care of a long time ago, but we keep the same people running the township and nothing changes. We are very lucky to have the Mascaro family helping to upgrade the township, although some people do not care for their input on projects which usually turn out to be correct on their side. I for one am glad to have them onboard because their service was needed and the employees work hard and always with a smile and a wave - some days that is all that is needed to start your day - it makes mine.

Anonymous said...

So, you voted? The question on Shannondell's problems were answered? No, not really. All that we contacted at two poles said they were not aware of the problem and that it probably will be completed by spring. Three people out of five said that is the way this township operates - if you leave it hanging long enough it will be forgotten. The younger of the three said she would love to have it a thru street - it would eliminate all that traffic out on the Ridge and also at Egypt and Trooper. Well, she I believe has it all together. Get on with it Lower Providence.

I do not believe we have Committee People here in LP. I know someone placed literature on our door - but the body(s) are unknown. I hope Zimmerman will make sure all contracts are completed and the Zoning Board has a new head. The Shannondell Street needs to be completed and the Construction Zone attached to this super construction has lingered long enough. Give us a break LP! Now there is one good sign that shows some business know-how. Next to the Liquor Store we now have a Beer Store - almost like one stop shopping, that is if Genuardi's Store keeps up their great business.

Anonymous 11/10 regarding the improvements at the Audubon Village Shopping Center with the addition of a Beer Store within the complex. I shop at Genuardi's Store for mostly our meats. I have no Idea who the butcher is, but you can not beat the beef and the various cuts that are made available. The area that these stores are in really are needed because of the apartment complex and the village itself where most days you will see walkers heading for the shopping center. So, go back and have the American Flag showing, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July celebrations as it was before all that up-dating some supervisors felt was needed that almost destroyed this community.

Where is the New Manager for the Township? No mention as to why he was given the shoe - now that is tacky. What about the Shannondell problem? A road that leads to no where. Promise made now Promise broken, once again. That area of the Township needs a thru road and it would benefit all residents and some of our township volunteers when trying to get to meetings and home. Think!!!
