No matter how you add it up, John McCain wins the Republican primary Tuesday.
I know what you're thinking, way to state the obvious, but the reason I'm bringing it up is this renewed vigor from Ron Paul. What is this guy thinking?
While I really won't have much to watch on the Republican side Tuesday night I will be paying close attention to the Democratic side. It's getting down right entertaining.
Hillary is lying about being under sniper fire for some unknown reason and Obama is now being endorsed by nearly every entertainer interested in politics.
No matter how you add it up, it just doesn't matter.
McCain beats Obama or Hillary come November.
Just a little reminder folks. You can only vote for the party you're registered under, and there are a lot of people running for committee seats so keep your eyes wide open, these are the people who sit in the backrooms brokering the deals.

Stan, I received my first literature regarding the Republican Candidates that will appear on the Official Republican Ballot - but of course only the candidates that are ENDORSED appear on this ballot. I requested a copy of all candidates that are running for office from the Republican County Headquarters, hopefully they will "E" it in time so we non-committee workers can share the FULL BALLOT with other Republicans that believe we all should have a choice and will be able to do our homework before heading for the Polls.
Business as usual: What's this I hear from Lower Providence Township. A County Commissioner and State Senator making phone calls in certain disticts pushing for candidates for committee positions. One wonders why this would happen? This isn't about qualifications, it's about keping the power for the power hungry. Received a letter from a person running for committeeman trying to justify his firms business with the township. If the people running for committee positions in two districts win,Lower Providence
will have four committee people on the Zoning Board, counting the solicitor. Talk about political power. It's all about who controls the purse strings.
Sign me: Hail Mary
Stan, You get me money to run my campaign I will write real nice letters about you when you decide to run for office, and become a politican. It will not matter what my personal feelings are toward you,or where the money comes from, as long as you deliver it. Brokering deals in the back room is not necessary anymore if you can deliver the almighty buck.
Stan, I heard the same dialogue as Hail Mary and decided to go to the parties involved for a straight answer. At the commissioners meeting this morning I asked Mr. Castor directly if he was making phone calls in behalf of a person running for a committee position in district 1-1. His answer to me(and I respect his answer) was I don't have time to make phone calls, but, I did write a letter in his behalf, he's a good friend.I also contacted the Senator and was advised that he did not have time to make calls either. Just wanted to clear up any He said She said. I will not touch her other comments.
There is no doubt who you are referring to - Committee People always discuss what is going on locally and of course county at their monthly meetings which is open to the public to sit in if they like. This of course is not for the public to hold court if they do not like the way subjects are being discussed. Almost all the committee people work for county/state/township in some compacity which also helps when the discussion turns to who is qualified for certain positions and then of course the endorsement will follow...interesting.
McCain will win in November? You must be hitting the Crown Royal with Hillary.
There is no way that this aging, confused, joined-at-the-hip-with-Bush warhawk will get within a country mile of whomever is the Democratic candidate, even if they nominate my neurotic pet dog.
People don't just want change, they want this incompetent Republican administration out, as soon as possible.
Wait and see, my friend.
Primary Elections are costly??? Yes, but Sestak just assumes his area in Montgomery County is not important & all those Photo Ops. & columns he writes (chest pounding) will assure him of his election in the fall. Well, his Republican opponent (Williams) thinks otherwise. November is not too far away and with a little help from the (switch) Dems...Williams can win. I'm going to start working right after this election for Williams...
You're kidding McCain will be the Democratic nominee!! Hello, there is a war going on, right. The republicans are toast. Who would think Lansdale Boro. is now a democratic town, next Lansdale democrats will have their candidates running unopposed in the next muni. elections. Hell Montco. Republicans can't even get someone of substance to run against Allyson Schwartz for Congress. Maybe Castor should give it a shot. Doubt it.
To Hail Mary, You do have a point about all of the committee people on the zoning board. What are your thoughts on three people sitting on the Lower Providence Village commercial committee either owning property or having a controling intrest in property in Evansburg. Seems wrong to me that someone can have a part in creating zoning laws that affect their own property. That is of course if Supervisor DiPaulo can ever get it done.
To anonymous of 4/16/ 2:56 PM. The entire ballot was printed in the Times herald I believe it was this past Thursday or Friday, you couldn't miss it. I think it was put in by the League of Women Voters with questions posed to the candidates. Check your local library for the past past paper or contact the League of Women Voters.
Barack Obama may in the eyes of some Pennsylvania Residents - misspoke. I for one, IF I were a Democrat & a Union Member in the trades, would say "no" he is telling you exactly how we are feeling ... frustrated & bitter because jobs and American Companies find it just fine to move their businesses to foreign countries. Steel manufacturing use to be be the backbone of Pittsburgh, Phoenixville & Bethlehem. Candy companies are now moving operations to other countries (Hershey). All the clothing our children wear are imported. We are supposed to patronize these companies/stores??? We do need a change - but it is mostly in the mfg. area - - not all children will go to college, but they can learn a trade and earn a living for their families.
This Primary Election, for the Dem., is one of the most important elections in a life time...Don't miss your chance to be a part of history.
Committee meetings open to the public? You wouldn't know it in my municipality. You have to know someone to find out when & where, and they are less than welcoming when you do go. The status quo has to go.
I read in the paper that the County Rep./Dem. Headquarters only supply the endorsed candidates on their flyers, now that is too bad., but thanks to the Times we are able to put two & two together and make up our own to-vote list if we are not in agreement with the endorsed. Thank You Times Herald!.....
Listening in on a conversation over breakfast...one young Dem. made a sly remark to his father a Rep... "Remember Tuesday - get out and vote" ... The father turned to his son and "you too remember to vote"..."You did get your absentee ballot - right"? Oops!
Anonymous...McCain can win in November - he has not made promises he can not carry out. Too old? No, not by todays standards. Murtha, on the other hand, should have called it quits some time back. We here in PA do not need any more of his earmarks. Now, how about Tuesday (Election Day) where will you be??? Pick the right one - which is??? Do your check on each one - it will make a difference in November.
Stan - Our family (1 Dem & 1 Rep.) will go to the Polls around Lunch & then close to closing to see how our Area has turned out...It really makes no difference to me as I'm the "R" - but I do know more about the Dem. than my partner. You know, I sure will be glad to have the Campaign move on down South - I've just about had it. November is not too far away, but then of course we will have our summer vacation & the tube is usually turned off.
Stan when are you going to run for office?
If the County Dem. & Rep. Headquarters would put their "Thinking Hats" on before sending literature to the printers - they would understand we the voting public would like to do our own thinking, because for many years your selections have not been too great. We need to know all the candidates that are running for office, after all they are one of us ...Dem. or Rep.
We just returned from voting and I checked your Blog and noted one family will go to the Polls at various times...we only have one car & why waste gas... Our Dem. total was 100 more than the Rep., & of course the Majority Inspector position has changed. Same people working the Polls & also the supporters outside the Polls said most of those voting were cross-overs. I'll check tonight with our Committee Woman to see how it all turned out.
I would like to congratulate the incumbent Committee people Kathie Eskie and Bill Stewart on their big win in LPT District 2-3 last night. Thank you for running such a clean and honest campaign. Their challangers were funded by big interest money and they managaged to run a very negative and name calling campaign. Thank God the voters saw through Janice and Bo's smoke screen and voted for competent, hardworking honest people. It is certainly hard to believe that these two challengers serve on the Zoning Hearing Board and make decisions that affect our whole township. Scary isn't it? Election year 2009 is fast approaching folks! Please remember.
The Professor
The Primary Election is over, quiet isn't it??? Now the talk is...around how many hours our State/Federal Reps/Gov. Officials spent on the clock time to support their personal choice?? Rendell & Sestack spent many hours (time on the clock) for Hillary, compared to Casey who supports Barack...so who was tending the store in Washington/Harrisburg?? Oh yes...use of "E" and their copies to support their claim?? of course...so are you saying we really only need a PT Gov. & Rep.??? Sounds like we can now count on more money will be in our State/Federal Treasury if that is the case... We did not elect them as Poster Men - but hopefully men that were well rounded (mentally) & not just looking for photo ops. to help further their careers as a double dipper... I thought Volunteers and Committee People were supposed to get out the vote?? Our Poll had volunteers & Committee People that really did a great job, but they too suggested maybe our Gov. & Rep. spent too much time to help Hillary, when she could have done it on her own if she had spent more of her money on her campaign here in PA.
This election was a "hoot" according to one voter - I'm not sure if he took voting seriously. I said - "really" and with that he said "it really did not matter".. because the person with the most "pull" will be selected to be our candidate for the Presidential Election... There were a few other words used but not for publication. And what say you voters ... how do you see a Primary? Endorsements are meaningless if you are not aware of the background of the players & those endorsing the candidate and their motive for doing so...
Hey Tim, You are correct in your thoughts about the make up of the current appointed boards in Lower Providence. I believe the Village Commercial committee is an ad hoc board appointed by the Board of Supervisors. They do not make any zoning changes (that can be done only by the BOS) only suggestions.
The hand picked positions have been friend's of Chairmans. By the way Tim, there will be an opening on the Planning Commission soon, apply for it and see how lucky you my be. But, don't hold your breath.
Hey Professor, You forgot to mention district 1-1. If it wasn't for Castor and Rafferty writing letters for the ambulance chaser,he would have never made it. When you take money to run a campaign your obligated to return the favor. It's a shame that two persons with new ideas were not added to the 1-1 district. Let's not forget who's still controlling L.P. township. And it's not Dininny. Someone is still pulling his strings. Like the Prof.keeps saying 2009 is around the corner.
Stan, Your not afraid to publish a persons name are you. When the complaint hits the Attorney Generals office you will not have the story.
All Area 4 Democratic Committee Meetings are open to ALL REGISTERED DEMOCRATS to attend. The meetings are held the second Thursday of every month at the IBEW Hall - 3900 Ridge Pike - Collegeville at 7 PM. Our next meeting is this Thursday, May 8th.
If you are a registered Democrat and live in either Lower Providence, Uppper Providence, West Norriton, Collegeville, Skippack, Trappe, Worcester, Limerick or Royersford, you are more than welcome to attend our committee meetings. We would love to meet you. Although many of us may disagree amongst the committee on our presidential choice, we work independently for the campaigns we support. In our committee person capacity, it is our job to inform the public of the choices, not to discuss who our favorite candidate is. We strictly adhere to that policy as it is always up to the voters to decide for themselves, who they want to vote for. It is up to us, to let them know as much as possible about the candidates on the ballot. Voters need to recognize that there are plenty of other candidates running on the ticket besides the presidential who need you to listen to them and decide. Your local and state candiates have a much greater impact on your daily life than the presidential. Come to the meetings and learn about them and the process.
Area 4 Democratic Committee - do you have a President? Why not publish your meetings in the local newspapers, because not too many Dem. are Blog Junkies. We have asked for "Street Lists" from our local Committee and they look at you like that is "Private - Hush,Hush Documents" - well we visit our neighborhood and hand out literature, and help with surveys, but who is the REGISTERED Dem. in our neighborhood that is an unknown fact, that is never to see the light of day. There is a problem here. Second Tuesday you say? IBEW Hall on the Ridge? I'll be there as usual.
Anonymous-
The Chairman of the Area 4 Democratic Committee is Larry Greenley ( Lower Providence) and the Vice Chairmman is Rick Saunders ( West Norriton). Let us know where you vote and we'll put you in contact with your committee person. We need all the help we can get and we need more committee people in certain areas. If you want to help, attend a meeting and we'll put you to work. Our meetings are published in the Times Herald every month and please note it is the second THURSDAY...you said Tuesday in your reply. Our next meeting is this THURSDAY, 5/8 at 7 PM...please attend if you are a registered Democrat and want to help. We need more committed Dems like you who want to get involved!
Area 4 Dem. - We use to call our group "The Big 4", but now it is "The Six Pack". Back in March two more free thinkers joined us. We meet at various places for Dinner and discuss current events and how we believe a change can occur. Our Group only meets every Tuesday before the Presidential Elections. Starting in March thru May Primary. Then of course family and then back in September thru November. A small group like ours can use their influence with co-workers & neighbors to bring about a change in thinking when it comes to candidates. Our Governor, Phila. Mayor & Reps. have been way off when selecting the correct nonimee in most cases, so we will remain as we are - "Free Thinkers". It is nice to know that your committee people are all fired up for this election. IBEW accommodates both the Dem. & Rep. Committee Meetings in case some Blogers think they are bias.
Free Thinkers-
It's great that you are meeting in your small group to discuss topics of importance to you. Area 4 Committee meeetings are also open for discussions on current political topics but we follow all of the rules set forth by the Democratic Party as that is the procedure for nominating and electing candidates both locally and nationally.
The IBEW is non-partisan and does accommodate both Democratic and Republican political parties for meetings and we are grateful for their continued support.
We hope that you will consider coming to a meeting sometime and we welcome all individuals and groups to participate in our meetings and discussions.
I just watched a video covering whether Barack Obama was electable. They touched on "heritage" and how much impact it has on an election. Well, exactly what is your makeup?? Are you a true "blue blood"? My family came from Germany/Switzerland and my husband's family came from England & Scotland. Sounds good, but what was the makeup of our ancestors generations before? Some members in our family have red/orange coloring in their hair, but most are fair and blondish. Does it really matter? I don't think so, and neither do my children and of course now their children. What you say and how you say it will make a difference on how your children and people around you feel toward an individual.
