Postal mystery solved, ARC still coveted

Thank you, Mr. Rick Brown.
I thought I was going crazy last week when I saw the Eagleville post office had shut down, especially since my mailing address had recently been changed to Eagleville. Thanks, Rick, for letting everyone know it had simply moved. Unlike you, I don't live in Lower Providence. I live in West Norriton, but that's where I go to pick up my certified mail.

So, every one's tired of talking about the ARC, eh? I could talk about the hospital move, but there's nothing new going on right now.

How about a performing arts center in Norristown?
I'd love to talk about that. How many of you would be interested in helping out with bringing a little culture into the county seat? We already have the state on board to the tune of $500,000, the county on board for some significant funds, and the borough, I mean municipality, is ready to help out any way they can, but we're also going to need some every day folks willing to throw a shilling or two into the pot.
Shoot me an e-mail at shuskey@timesherald.com if you think you want to get involved.

One cannot win with your newspaper, can they? Your "thumbs down" today is critical of Norristown council for letting the Karabots project get away, yet you also deride Lower Providence's supervisors because they ARE trying to move forward with a project similar in that it will bring much needed jobs and ratables to the community. LP is trying to stay ahead of the game so that in 20 or 30 years we don't need to 'revitalize' ourselves like Norristown is trying to do. But if that happens, I'm sure you'll be there to smack LP around then too.

OK, I'm going to respond yet again to a post. Anonymous, please re-read the Thumbs Down. I wasn't critical of Norristown. I'm actually one of Norristown's biggest cheerleaders. My job is to question things and then to comment on them as I see them.

Mr. Huskey, It's unfortunate that someone with hate in their body takes swipes at the Editor when they cannot and want to read correctly. I read the same article and have to agree that you did not deride anyone. The writer seems to know a lot about a certain project trying to come into L.P. They suggest that it will bring jobs and ratables into the community, but fails to suggest how the public will get there. L.P. is doing quite well for the past 205 years and will continue to do so in next 20 or 30 years from now. Keep advising us Mr Huskey some of us subscribers can take it.

Mr. Huskey:
I just read the recent post from Anonymous 12/6/08 regarding bringing "jobs and ratables" into LPT". Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a favorite expression of Craig Dininny, Chairman of the BOS, and one that he uses at every BOS meeting. Again it seems that Mr. Dinniny is running his mouth again in his futile attempt to single handidly save our Township from his perceived financial disaster without even considering traffic conditions, ecological damage to Valley Forge National Park, a possible illegal zoning change, two lawsuits, plus his disregard to the wishes and desires of our Township voters. We are not being fooled this time Craig and will be watching and waiting.

A county seat the size of Norristown absolutely could have a performing arts center, but it will take a lot more than a couple of million dollars. Don't people get tired of having to trek into Philadelphia?

Stan,
I think it is great that the state in on board with $500,000 to help Norristown.

I think it is great you are cool with it.

I just don't get how that jibes with your conservative values.

I always thought conservative fiscal policy would not allow for something the private sector would do itself.

What are the market forces that will allow this arts center to survive?

Hey Stan, Great article by Mr. Rotenberg in the paper today(1-3-09. about the story of ARC.

It would do you heart great to visualize the traffic mess on 422, Trooper Road, Egypt Road today due to the opening of the Oaks Convention Center.

Traffic was backed up from King of Prussia to Oaks on 422, the traffic on Egypt Road was from Shannondell to Oaks.

Just imagine what traffic will bear if the ARC is built and patrons will have to use the outdated roadways.

Welcome to the year 2009.

Yes, Sunday was an interesting day on 422 Bypass and Egypt Road all the way thru Audubon and Oaks proper. Exactly 1 hour from Crawford Road in Audubon into the Convention Center. Philadelphia and the Surekill Expressway now has some opposition when it comes to traffic problems - it is the future that local planners did not include in their original plans. Interesting, right? Change of subject - why is your face blue on Stan's Blog? Have you change your political leaning or is it just the color of choice until after our President-elect is seated?

Just build IT and figure it all out later.
Proper traffic studies are not required and want to waive some zoning issues not a problem.
IF YOU ARE A DEVELOPER THAT IS NO PROBLEM.

I too was appalled at this past weekend's traffic congestion on Park, Pawling and Eagleville Rds plus gridlocked Rt 422. It was impossible to leave the Audubon/Pawlings Rd area with traffic at a complete standstill. This was a situation caused by the opening of the new Expo Center in Oaks(Upper Providence Township) and not initiated here in Lower Providence. However now that our Township BOS has a new chairman and he is a former police officer, I am very curious on what his plans will be to help resolve this problem with our neighboring township. Will he be effective searching for a solution or just be a big bag of wind like our previous chairman over the past several years. Come on Mr. Sassu, give us some feedback. What will you do to resolve this?

Hey professor, speaking of 'big bags of wind', what is YOUR proposed solution? What would you do? More specifically, what would you do that your township hasn't already done? And it must be legal...you cannot legally tell developers or residents that they cannot reasonably develop their property.

LPT has been actively involved in extracting traffic solutions and money for said solutions from developers for years. LPT has been a leader among all local municipalities over the past 6 years in organizing lobbying of and funding from Washington for 422for improvements that LPT must have to continue to attract residents and businesses. How did you miss that? Or were you dozing off during all those meetings you sat through?

I know you know there's an election this year. Anxiously hoping YOU put in your petition and run since you must have some great ideas to use as a platform. Otherwise we wouldn't hear from you so much.

It appears that the "Big Bag of Wind"(aka "BBW") again answered by blog with his usual sarcastic comments. Tell us "BBW", what have you done for our Township besides selling us out to the big developers, destroying the integrity of our villages, increasing traffic problems at Egypt and Park/Pawling Rds. and giving your mentor everything he has wanted...if the Zoning is not correct, wait a day and we will change it to suit you. You asked me what I would do about the traffic, well let me ask you what you did with the 3 millon you received from ARC for a traffic study...build more bocce courts?
BBW, I understand you also plan to run again and we residents hope you do so. We will vote you out insuring that you do no more damage to our Township. When the voters finish, you couldn't be elected Dogcatcher. "BBW", maybe you should also consider running for your old committee seat..that should prove amusing to us! See you in May.

Hey Sasso:
I was one of the atendees at last nights BOS meeting and I have to comment that Gestapo tactics ended at the conclusion of World War II. Why not lighten up a bit and stop running off at the mouth and threatening us citizens. We realize you are an ex-cop but stop treating us citizens like common criminals. More than likely you need a few lessons in charm school or some sesitivity training on how to conduct a meeting. Rant over now, are you going to threaten me with ejection for posting my comment?

Peninsula Dweller, It was interesting to read your blog and comments about the New Chairman of the Board. As a member of the audience last evening I believe the meeting was run quite well. My problem with the meeting was the absence of the video part of the meeting. With so many important subjects on the agenda, it seemed odd that this would be eliminated since all Township meeting are advertised the first and third Thursdays of the month.Agenda items;(Change of Zoning,Mascaro's donation of $19,000 to Township Charities, Conditional use hearing on property at Egypt & Pinetown Rds., Prison Expansion, Conditional use decision on the ARC, and more. The meeting broke at 12.00 P.M. The Chairman did lose his cool once or twice threating to have people escorted from the meeting by the Chief of Police. One positive issue was the elimination of the three minute time clock, residents were allowed to speak their mind with no ring of the bell. The past Chairman did suggest that the present Chairman did speak a little too much and he may want his job back. I believe it was said in jest!

Mr. Borai:
It was extremly interesting hearing your comments regarding last night's BOS meeting and our new Chairman. If I recall correctly, you were sound asleep during 50-60% of that meeting. Was it your snoring that prompted Sassu to threaten to bodily remove someone from the rear of the auditorium. Considering your age and physical condition , please tell us in 25 words or less what YOU actually remember of that meeting. We still consider you a decent and all around good guy Mr. Borai.

I must be the only person you know that can snore with his eyes open.
Let's put it up for a little bet on my physical and mental state. How about a race around the peninsula, winner shuts up and revels their idenity. My name shows above.

Mr. Borai:
I'd be glad to accept your race challage, however I would be seriously worried about the possibility of your ever completing this race and returning home safely. Kwowing you for all these years and my growing concern for senior citizens, plus your mental facility at any given moment, I would have grave doubts of you ever finding your way home again once you left your neighborhood. If your caregiver still issues those GPS wrist bracelets for the impared or infirm I would reconsider. If you have one...great, then let the race begin.

OK I surrender. You have convinced me that I must make an appointment with my Doctor immediately. Dweller, would it be possible for you to loan me your GPS and walker that I may find my way to my doctors. Would you consider wheelchairs as a source of transportation for our race?

Mr. Borai:
I'd be glad to aquire for you any prosthesis you may need. My only concern that I have is "whether you are capable of driving to your doctor since all your softball teams have banded together to purchase a Seeing Eye Dog for your umpiring duties this upcoming year. Touche mon ami!
